When Punjab clashes with Turkey

The promo starts with a reference to Maula Jatt and a fiery entry of Farhan Saeed as ‘Kaka’. He appears as a young man who is aloof about life and seems in love with Sonya Hussayn’s character, 'Kanwal'.

His parents also compare him to his brother Saqib, essayed by Feroze Khan, who works in a restaurant in Turkey as a cook and waiter. There he meets a striking young woman Leena, essayed by Iman Aly, and takes her to Punjab to make his family meet his lady love.

But then things take a turn when Leena falls in love with the culture of the village and gets swayed by the desiness of the much-Punjabi 'Kaka'. The couple find a companion in one another, creating a sprout between Saqib and Kaka whilst breaking Kanwal’s heart.

But do Kanwal and Saqib too discover love in each other? The teaser has left it upon us to discover in cinemas.

Let’s not forget, the sneak peek showed us a crackling glimpse of Urwa Hocane’s item song who appears all sizzling and saucy, grooving beside Farhan Saeed. The movie will also treat us to scenic views of both Turkey and Punjab on the big screen.

A unique band of heroes

Of course, one of the major reasons the whole of Pakistan is craving TLoMJ is because its stars Fawad Khan. He has been an actor who has heightened his exclusivity and stardom by being so selective in his projects, making his fans yearn to see him more on screen. But then there is also Hamza Ali Abbasi, who is a powerful actor and has entirely sidelined himself from the world of entertainment. TLoMJ is surely amongst his last projects that will be unveiled this month.

We are equally excited to see Gohar Rasheed and his wild transformation, Ali Azmat and Faris Shafi in their respective roles. We bet that together the men will be striking like thunder on screen, making the movie an invincible project for years to come.

A daring project of the gandasa genre

In many ways, TLoMJ is one daring project by director Bilal Lashari. He boldly took the challenge of dabbling with the cult Punjabi gandasa genre- a genre that failed to evolve and was later blamed for the death of Lollywood. Lashari is aiming to explore it while giving the new Maula Jatt a taste that will entice the millennials and Gen Z.

It has no songs or dance sequences like the recent movies. What's more, it has hard-core Punjabi dialogues that the masses might not understand. However, it will have mind-boggling stunts, set in a pre-industrial period, and will essay an explosive rivalry between Jatts and Natts, essayed by A-list actors in the country. The director has made it clear that he doesn't aim to revive the gandasa genre but rather tell it in his own style in an era where it has become almost nonexistent.

A dose of women empowerment

TLoMJ might be a story of the yore but female viewers will be excited to witness Daro, essayed by Humaima Malick, as a fiery warrior of a woman. Noori Natt’s sister in the story, Daro is powerful and is her own person. She knows how to wield a sword, ride a horse, and can defeat her enemy with fighting skills equivalent to any man.

The film indeed seems like a male-dominated plot. But the addition of the firecracker Daro amongst all the men will be a game-changer. We are also excited to see what flavor Mukhoo Jatti’s character, essayed by Mahira Khan, will add to the story. She is playing Fawad Khan’s love interest in the story.

Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari’s dynamic partnership

It is quite evident that so far Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari have steered TLoMJ out of quite troublesome times. From various interviews, we have realized that the duo have been quite patient with the project and fought security threats, lawsuits, and, not-to-forget, the pandemic to make this project see the light of day.

Their partnership together has been no less than a blessing for the movie. Bilal Lashari has already made his acclaim as a director with the award-winning Waar. Hikmat has aimed high by becoming the investor and producer of Pakistan's most expensive film. All eyes are on this trailblazing duo as everyone is excited about the work they have claimed to work effortlessly hard on. Will they be truly able to make a difference? We hope so!

The Legend of Maula Jatt will release in theatres all over Pakistan on October 13, 2022.

Her father has passed away and now finally her brother along with her mother knows how low she has stooped to marry Zarrar. But Alas! Seems like her character is a lost cause. We have lost all hopes that she will be able to redeem herself in the eyes of viewers.

Let’s do a quick review of what has been happening in Amanat and where is the story heading next.

Meher Returns

Eventually, Meher’s (Urwa Hocane) had to be proven innocent and her mother-in-law, Firdaus (Saba Hamid) didn’t delay any further to bring her back home.

Although reluctant, Meher agrees to return to the home that shamed her. But this time, respect and love awaited her from Firdaus, Samra (Srha Asghar), Junaid (Haroon Shahid), and her father-in-law. Only Zarrar (Imran Abbas) and Zuni (Saboor Aly) created an uproar upon her arrival.

But this time Meher had her mother-in-law’s support and no one could have prompted her to leave the house again. Salar’s nearness became a bonus for Zarrar who wants to take his child away from Meher. To be honest, his character had been easily manipulated throughout and he still believes that his first wife cheated on him.

While Firdaus is vying to create momentum in the house and oust Zuni for good, our vamp has her evil plans up her sleeve. Realizing that Zarrar will not be abandoning Salar, she feeds the poor child an overdose of the medicine which eventually ends up harming the child.

Meher and Zarrar rush their baby to the hospital and are told the cause of the baby’s ailment. The father is shocked to hear the news and divulges that he was the one who gave medicine to Salar with just the right dose. This will surely have his mind churning about Salar receiving an overdose of his medicine.

It was awful to witness Junaid wounded due to the accident. While all were sympathizing with him, Zarrar remained aloof. What will wake him up to realize that his Zuni is behind the turmoil in the house?

However, the next episode seems to bring an end to Zuni's villainy. Seems like Zarrar will finally be realizing her true colors. What will she do next? Try to end the marriage between Samra and her brother? Let’s wait and watch what will be her character’s fate in the saga.

Saboor Aly nails her acting game as Zuni

It's tough being a villain and having the audience hate you to the core. Saboor Aly did it all with such finesse that we will remember her as the insufferable Zuni for a long, long time. She could easily bag the award for the villain of the year for making us hate her whiny and petty character.

While Imran Abbas’s character is the hero in the story, he has gotten equally despicable. He is a doubtful husband and is easily used by Zuni. The character really needs to think on his own and his decisions shouldn’t be clouded due to his second’s wife constant accusations towards Meher.

All in all, we really want Zuni to be brought to book. What does fate have in store for her? We are curious to find out.

We finally realize what went wrong between Mahjabeen (Kubra Khan) and Rabia (Sajal Aly). Apparently, Noraiz (Asad Siddiqui) had been blackmailing Arzoo (Syra Sharoz), and its time for the girl to clap back. The latest episode was an exciting one, oozing with girl power and the Lady Cadets (LCs) making us proud by boldly competing with male cadets.

Let’s review what went down in Sinf e Ahan this weekend and what is next to happen next in the plot.

Shooting Competition Equally Owned by Women

The episode began with a perplexed Arzoo on her way to quit the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA). Noraiz and his heinous act of leaking her pictures to his friends compelled her to make the move. However, Major Samia and Major Samia came to her aid, stopping her from ending her career in the army. Together, they confronted Noraiz and gave him the reprimanding he deserved. It was empowering to see the vile Noraiz apologizing and finally leaving Arzoo to peacefully continue her life in PMA.

Even more inspirational to watch was witnessing the shooting competition between LCs and the male cadets. Apparently, LCs always lose in the shooting match against boys. However, this time Major Osama seems confident that at least one LC will go to the final round and make them all proud.

The whole squad of women is counting on Pariwash (Ramsha Khan) as she is the best amongst all at shooting at the target. She along with LC Shahista (Yumna Zaidi) and LC Arzoo (Syra Sharoz) participate in the contest. However, it is her alone amongst all the women who go through the semi-finals to reach the final.

It is tough for Pariwash to compete against men but it is even challenging for her to come face to face with the son of the Sardar of her tribe. The Sardar’s son surely recognized her and vehemently wanted to defeat her. What will happen in the third round? We will see it all in the upcoming episode.

We also came to know that Taimoor embraced martyrdom in an encounter with the terrorists. It was a moving scene to see how he became a Shaheed in front of his friend, Osama while requesting him to take care of his wife and daughter.

The promo of the next episode shows Pariwash getting defeated in the final round of the shooting contest by the son of Sardar. Shahista will be fighting with her emotions as she gets a new proposal from Kamil’s friend in the army. Rabia will yet again be pursued by Nasar (Asim Azhar) who will use her brother, Danyal (Usman Mukhtar) to connect with her yet again.

Empowering Scenes All Over

Sinfe Aahan won the hearts of the viewers with how smartly and tastefully Arzoo’s case was handled in the episode. Her story is the tale of a lot of women across Pakistan who undergo cyberbullying when their private pictures get leaked across the internet. In Arzoo’s case, her mentors in the army helped her and stood by her bold move to confront Noraiz.

The episode also established that women can be equally competent and outstanding shooters like men and their abilities should not be doubted.

We love how Dananeer makes us laugh every time with her character of LC Sidra. She is a born star. She is as apt at being an actor as she is being an Instagram influencer.

The drama picked up speed this Wednesday to gear up for a massive twist coming up soon in the tale. Seems like a dent in the love story of Mahir (Bilal Abbas) and Mehru (Hadiqa Kiani) will be hitting them hard.

Let's review what happened in Dobara this week and what are we expecting next from the story.

** Of heart-attacks and harassment **

One of the major happenings of this episode was Mahir's father, Jehangir (Shabbir Jan) surviving a major heart attack. Already saddened by his son's isolation, his second wife continued to give him even more anguish with her constant insecurity of being replaced by a third wife. Burdened with too much stress, an-already ailing Jehangir was lucky to be in the hospital at the time of his attack. Mehru was immediately informed by the doctor who ensured that his family is alerted at once. While Mahir was least bothered with the news, Adeela (Fareeda Shabbir) rushed to the hospital where she discovered Mehru and blasted upon her for marrying her husband.

Mehru calmed her down and broke the news that she is Mahir's wife. Shocked by the revelation, Shagufta composed herself and instantly began to plan schemes to take advantage of the situation. Of course, Mehru appeared wealthy and affluent. Consequently, Mahir's stepmom tried to remain in her daughter-in-law's good books.

Meanwhile, Mahir became a hero at the office by exhibiting his responsible and intellectual side. However, Affan (Usama Khan) remained unimpressed and was jealous that his new, stepdad has been successful in handling the business.

Zameer (Nabeel Zuberi) is planning to mint money out of Mehru by forcing Minal (Maheen Siddiqui) to request a massive amount from her mother. Minal refused that she will not compromise on her self-esteem. Seems like this bold step will create challenges for her. Already, Zameer admonished her for kickstarting her own business of crafting cards. We are sure he will make her miserable for not complying with his demand.

It was distasteful to watch that Dobara showcased a woman planning a fake harassment scene to falsely accuse a man. In this case, phuppo (Sakina Samo) provoked Sehar (Sabeena Syed) to frame Mahir for harassing her. According to her, this was the only way to make Mahir leave home and family business.

On the other hand, Dobara shows Mahir standing up for the housemaid when an elderly male servant makes her uncomfortable. This addition to the plot is indeed applaud-worthy. However, we wish that the writer wouldn't have portrayed an aged woman in the house, persuading a younger girl to deceitfully target someone. Already a plethora of women in Pakistan are fighting hard to prove their innocence and are mistrusted every day about the facts of their harassment incidence. Our entertainment fraternity needs to realize the gravity of such a matter and tread carefully while exhibiting such scenes in the dramas.

The storm is about to wreak havoc

The promo of the upcoming episode shows how Sehar follows phuppo’s bogus plan to falsely accuse Mahir of harassing her.

The incident turns Mehru’s whole world upside down. So much so, Mahir is shown leaving the house after his wife starts suspecting him. How will Mahir take this and will he plan revenge upon Mehru and his family? Let’s wait and watch.

However, it is repulsive to know that Sehar agreed to follow Phuppo’s sickening scheme. While YouTube comments are praising Mahir’s brave act of protecting a household servant, some are also highlighting that they disliked the insensitive scenes where Phuppo instigated Sehar to commit horrible wrongdoing of charging Mahir with harassment. How will social media handle this? Only time will tell.

They also aim to tread wisely while selecting the right families for their marriage, taking their daughter’s consent to ensure their happiness. However, fate appears to have other plans.

However, the strong women have been prepared to be fierce firecrackers all their life and surely, we will be witnessing their power-packed avatars in their respective sub-plots.

Azfar Rehman & Areeba Habib Possess the Cutest Romantic Equation

The much dominant pair of Taimoor as Azfar Rehman and Abeeha as Areeba Habib had the cutest scenes in the first episode. In fact, at the start of the story, we witness sweet moments that established their crackling romantic equation for the rest of the drama.

The couple is Nikkahfied in the story and awaits their Rukhsati till our hero completely establishes his dream business. Enjoying a wedlock relationship, the duo seems to make the most of their intimate phone conversations and sneaky meetups. Not only do they look stunning together, but their on-screen chemistry is also believable and was off the charts from their very first, adorable scene together.

Their summer love felt undeniably natural on-screen, with Abeeha making plans for their married life and Taimoor being respectful towards her loving demands. What’s more, their relationship seems unlike the rest of the women in the story. The early teasers revealed that a dysfunctional marriage is in store for the rest of the daughters. Will Abeeha and Taimoor prove to be an ideal couple in a dutiful marriage for the rest, let’s wait and watch.

Kudos to the seasoned stars Azfar Rehman and Areeba Habib, who ensured that they flawlessly deliver on-screen what their avatars demanded. Their sub-plot has left us craving for more and the promo of the next episode reveals a ‘dhamkaydaar’ shaadi in store for them. Can’t wait to witness more heart-fluttering moments from their sub-plot!

The fact remains that the drama has garnered a strong social media following with loyal viewers who will be sticking to the story till the very end. Mahir and Mehru’s eventual fate has everybody intrigued. Will this unconventional relationship last and prove that age, indeed, is just a number in a relationship?

The return of Mahir

We truly missed Mahir’s (Bilal Abbas) character in the last episode and so did his father, mother, and the servants who had gotten fond of him.

Apparently, with our hero, struggling between life and death; people around him realized his worth, including his new bride Mehru (Hadiqa Kiani). She was surely skeptical of his loyalty, but now that he has sacrificed himself for Affan (Usama Khan); Mahir has gained her blind-folding trust.

The minute Mahir gain consciousness, Zamir (Nabeel Zuberi) summons the police to take his statement. Deep down, a scheming Zamir wants chaos and havoc in Mehru’s life so that he can have complete control of the business.

However, his plan backfires when Mahir gives a false statement to the cops, stating that he was mugged and shot outside his home. Witnessing this all, Mehru gets floored and with her heart in her hand, she openly declares that she has sold herself to him.

Mahir acts modest and tries to reassure her that he is always there to protect her. What is going on in his mind, we will find out soon! He believes that getting shot by Affan has fallen to his advantage and he plans to take full benefit of the opportunity that has fallen in his lap.

Meanwhile, Mahir’s recovery has created a frenzy in the lives of Minal (Maheen Siddiqui), Affan, and his wife, Sehar (Sabeena Syed). They are all under the impression that Mahir will now make their lives miserable and will take revenge. What's more, everyone is anxious that Mahir will usurp the entire business and property.

The promo of the next episode reveals Mehru professing her unshakable confidence in Mahir. Meanwhile, Mahir is seen declaring that Narmeen has always been her one true love.

Bilal Abbas an Acting Powerhouse

After a whole week, Bilal Abbas returned with some prominent scenes in Dobara and reminded us that no one could have portrayed Mahir better than him.

Saved from the gunshot, Mahir is back to his cheeky self and Bilal ensured that he aptly delivers what his avatar demands. Lying on the hospital bed he is vigorous in his performance, making us laugh during the scenes with his friend Babar.

Apart from Hadiqa and Bilal, we also need to applaud the supporting cast of Sakina Samo, Usama Khan, Nabeel Zuberi, Maheen Siddiqui, and Sabeena Sayed for exhibiting compelling performances. Kudos to the team of director Danish Nawaz and writer Sarwat Nazir for making Dobara one of the best watches of the season.

Upon their homecoming, we could witness the transformation in their personalities after living and training in Kakul. They are stronger, more confident and their view of the world has drastically changed.

However, this is just the beginning of so many more endeavors to kickstart in their lives. Let’s take a quick review of what happened in Sinfe Aahan this week and what are we expecting next to happen.

The much-awaited homecoming

The Lady Cadets (LCs) are excited to return to their cities and hug their families. However, they have to pass their uniform and salute test to get approval to visit their homes.

The project makers paid a lot of attention to this part of the episode and showed in detail the saluting test of every trainee. Mahjabeen (Kubra Khan) is the only one, amongst the squad of Rabia (Sajal Aly), Arzoo (Syra Shahroz), Shahista (Yumna Zaid), Nathmy (Yehali Tashiya), Sidra (Dananeer), and Pariwash (Ramhsa Khan), who fails her test and stays at the acadmey

The rest are exuberant to finally get a break from the PMA life and pass their test. However, Nathmy has to stay back as she is unable to travel to Sri Lanka. Upon discovering this, Rabia hatches a plan to take this matter to Major Samia so she could request the Sri Lankan Embassy in Pakistan to allow Nathmy to visit Islamabad with Rabia.

The two cadets seem to be getting along and are excited at the prospect of spending time together away from Pakistan Military Academy (PMA).

Fortunately, the embassy grants the approval and Rabia swears to protect her Sri Lankan friend with her life. While Mahjabeen stays at Kakul and practices to perfect her salute, the rest are traveling back to their towns. Pariwash and her father encounter their village’s Sardar during their trip to him. The leader offers them a ride in his jeep and Pariwash assumes that this is a positive sign. Consequently, she puts forth the request in front of the Sardar to free her father’s land once she can repay the loan from her PMA salary. While the Sardar is silent, our heroine’s father is worried that this plea will not be welcomed so easily by the leader of the tribe.

Kamil (Junaid Jamshed) greets Shahista to take her back home, who remains nonchalant while meeting him. Although she expresses her gratitude to her fiancée for helping her throughout her journey to PMA, she also puts forward an idea of breaking off their engagement. It's evident that Kamil loves her and has shown it profusely too. Why would Shahista want to get rid of a man who won’t stand in her way of empowerment? Only time will tell.

Arzoo’s homecoming is the most power-packed of all. We all remember how she was followed on the streets in the early episodes and chose to ignore the creepy men who bothered her. But this time, she stands up to her harassers and teaches them a lesson they won't forget. With some punches and tight slaps, she makes them ask for her forgiveness. The entire neighborhood witnesses the episode and is in awe of Arzoo and her strength.

Meanwhile, Nathmy finds a home in Rabia’s family and enjoys the company of her parents. The Sri Lankan cadet is adorable in her Urdu delivery and expresses her love for Biryani and Kebab. It was a heart-warming sight to see her bonding with a Pakistani family who skipped nothing in pampering her and being hospitable.

Women empowerment at its best

Sinf e Aahan has now fans not only just in Pakistan but also in Sri Lanka, India and Bangladesh. YouTube comments beneath the episode show how viewers worldwide are watching the story and loving the portrayal of women in the army.

In this episode, Pariwash and Arzoo won our hearts with their bravery. Pariwash continues to be her father’s strength and is determined to fulfill his dream of owning his land, again. The way she confidently discusses the matter with the tribe’s leader made us proud of her. This character continues to be fearless, courageous, and hard-working towards her father’s right!

Arzoo was a warrior when she handled the rowdy men in the neighborhood. This daring came from the army training she has received so far. With the scene, her character became a role model for so many women harassed and ogled every day on the streets.

The next episode will make us meet Asim Azhar’s character in the story. What value will his character add to the tale, let’s wait and watch!

We finally found out who got shot from the duel between Affan and Mahir. However, the episode last night was quite filmy and packed with drama.

One thing is for sure: Hadiqa Kiani and Bilal Abbas have raised the bar in Dobara. We are loving their pair and their apt performances. The team of writer Sarwat Nawaz and director Danish Nawaz have made this story worth watching for all generations, leaving profound lessons for everyone to learn from.

Let’s do a quick review of what fared in Dobara last night and what is next to happen in the plot!

Mahir battles between life and death

Although, there wasn’t much development in the story this week; the makers took a lot of time to reveal what happened in the duel between Mahir (Bilal Abbas) and Affan (Usama Khan).

It all started when Phuppo (Sakina Samo) breaks it to Affan that her mother has tied the knot with Mahir. Upon realizing that Mehru has married again- that too with a young man his age- the hot-headed Affan gets furious to the point of getting violent.

He threatens to kill him and warns him to leave his mother. Mahir, in his aim to establish that he isn’t going anywhere, ends up infuriating him even more. So much so, Affan takes the gun from the guard and points it at Mahir in a filmy scene outside the house.

Our hero tries to warn him that he will go to jail if he kills him. A maniacal Affan, eventually, decides to kill his own self to save himself from the humiliation of society. Rain begins to fall right at that moment. Mahir tries to take away the gun from him and of course, gets shot in the chest!

Next, we see that the victim is being rushed to the hospital on a gurney and doctors are rushing to save him. Unfortunately, Mehru is all alone with no family member at her side to be her strength. She is helpless, in tears, and in fear of losing Mahir.

The doctors have made it clear that they managed to save Mahir, but he is still in critical condition to the point he can die. Meanwhile, Zamir is having a field day realizing that it’s a great opportunity to get rid of both Affan and Mahir. If Mahir dies and Affan goes to jail, he will own Mehru’s entire business. Consequently, he makes no plans to save Affan from the cops and tells them the whole tale.

Affan is scared but is also acting foolishly. To find a safe spot for himself, he finds shelter with his in-laws who are now desperate to save him.

On the other hand, Jehangir (Shabbir Jan) visits the hospital upon knowing the news of Mahir in the hospital. He has a sweet heart-to-heart with a tear-stricken Mehru and divulges that he only lives, knowing Mahir is breathing and is healthy. In an emotional scene, he makes it clear that he has accepted Mehru as his daughter-in-law.

The promo of the next episode shows Mahir gaining consciousness and confessing to the police that he was shot by Affan. But will he let go of all charges and save him from going to jail? We think that’s highly possible. This way, he will strengthen Mehru’s trust in him all the more.

Queen Hadiqa Rules the Episode

One look at the YouTube comments beneath Dobara’s episode reveals that she has won the hearts of all her fans. The viewers are all praised for her acting, claiming that she is a natural performer and made them cry along with her.

Bilal Abbas had little screen presence this week. Hence, all limelight was on Kiani. She shined in every scene. Her anxious expressions were on point and her portrayal as the apprehensive wife was flawless. The singer has proven that her acting talent is as good as her singing skills. We would love to see her performing all the more. She is graceful and knows how to own the frame.

Surely, Mehru will know trust Mahir with her life, given that he almost sacrificed himself to save her son. Will Mahir be exploiting this firm faith or will he too fall in love with her eventually? Dobara has us all buzzing with questions and has truly left us wanting more.

So much so, we are still clueless about where the plot is heading and what is next planned by the makers of the drama. However, we are religiously praying for the leading characters of Zarrar and Meher to reunite.

Will it truly happen? Let’s do a quick review of what fared in Amanat last night and discuss the forever exit of a character from the story.

Qaiser’s unexpected farewell

Over the weeks, the story revolved around the twisted marriage lives of Zarrar (Imran Abbas), Meher (Urwa Hocane), Junaid (Haroon Shahid), Zuni (Saboor Aly), Samra (Srha Asghar), and Raheel (Salman Saeed). It was unfortunate to witness that not a single pair was in peace, their relationship only walking the path of dysfunctionality.

Things get worse when Malik Furqan (Babar Ali) catches Meher trying to flee the house. He cages her in her room so that she does not dare to run off. However, our heroine has made up her mind that no more she can stay with her deceitful uncle. She hatches a plan with her aunt Saeeda (Saima Qureshi) to sneakily escape right under his nose. But fate had something else planned for them all.

Apparently, Meher pretends to be sick and takes Saeeda’s aid to visit the hospital. From there, she intends to run away so that her uncle cannot stop her from breaking free. However, during the journey to the hospital, Malik Furqan gets a call from home that Qaiser (Gohar Rasheed) has gotten terribly sick.

Who knew, that upon returning to the house, they will all find Qaiser lifeless. They take him to the hospital where the doctor declares him dead! It is like the sky has fallen on Saeeda who collapses from the grief of losing his son. Of course, she blames it all on her husband who has always despised his specially-abled son.

Meanwhile, Zarrar meets Raheel in private so he can defuse the heated situation. However, he is not successful in saving Samra’s home. On the other hand, Junaid makes full plans to marry his friend Laraib, with whom he has found peace and love.

However, he doesn’t realize what doom it will bring upon the entire family. The attention-seeker Zuni is already trying her best to seek the sympathy of all, especially that of Zarrar. However, poor Samra is impacted the most from all the chaos. She is with child and is suffering from severe mental anguish of her marriage about to end.

Gohar Rasheed will be missed!

Since the start of the story, we wished deep down that Qaiser will recover. We hoped that there will be a miracle and all the medical treatments done on him will prove fruitful. The last thing we predicted was his death happening in the story. The writer, indeed, surprised us all with this astonishing turn of events.

How his death will impact the lives of the character? We are guessing Meher will no longer have the threat of getting forcefully married to him. Probably, Malik Furqan will realize how his actions are bringing pain to people around him. We wanted to see more of Gohar in this avatar. However, his small role in the drama proved how versatile he is as an actor. He truly aced his role and his performance spoke volumes about his acting prowess.

The next episode will seemingly be even more power-packed than ever before. Junaid will be marrying again and will dreadfully impact the lives of all around him. Amanat is getting more interesting all the more. Fingers crossed for all that will unfold in the upcoming week.

Every episode has something new to bring to the table. While Mahir and Mehru’s relationship continues to blossom, the recent episode gave us insight into how they truly feel about each other deep inside. Seems like they both want to be cautious and Mahir seems to be cooking up a scheme of his own!

A time bomb waiting to explode

While Affan (Usama Khan) is still on his honeymoon, all the family members are ready to face the impending doom his arrival will bring with him.

Meanwhile, Mehru (Hadiqa Kiani) and Mahir (Bilal Abbas) continue to battle with society. Our heroine still gets upset when someone calls her aunty and labels her husband as her son. Mahir tries his best to pacify her that she shouldn’t let people get to her.

In another story, Mahir’s father (Shabbir Jan) is sick and his wife (Fareeda Shabbir) decides to inform his son about the operation. After all, a huge sum of money was required and she had no intention of selling any of her assets to bear the medical expenses. But a huge drama erupts as Mahir visits his father’s home. Filled with bitterness, he refused to believe that his dad is unwell and blasts upon his stepmother for exploiting him for money. His father hears his outburst, eventually realizes that he has married Mehru, and has eyes on his money. Of course, Mahir finds himself in the eye of the storm and spills out all the venom of the past inside him. He makes it clear that he doesn’t want to keep any ties with his family.

Later, Mehru and Mahir visit Nayyara and Farid Sahab (Shehryar Zaidi). While Nayyara likes Mahir, Farid Sahab is dubious about the young guy in Mehru’s life. He clearly warns her to be careful and protect herself before he harms her. Mehru responds that he can exploit her only to a limit she will allow. This depicted that she doesn’t completely trust Mahir. Our hero hears it all and is dejected by her statement. Instantly, he turns negative and decides that he will make him fall so much in love with him that she won’t realize when she is being misused.

The episode ends on the ticking time bomb that was waiting to explode. Affan loses his cool upon finally realizing that his mother has remarried a boy close to his age. He looks thunderstruck and murderous at the same time. The promo of the next episode gave us goosebumps and seems like a tragic turn of events will be striking Dobara.

Is a death happening again in Dobara?

In the upcoming episode, a duel between Mahir and Affan will occur. The latter will unleash a gun and someone will be getting hurt during the nasty brawl. Or will it be death? Only time will tell.

Fans are predicting that it is most likely Mahir that will end up in the hospital, earning more sympathy for himself. However, there is also a possibility that Affan will either get injured or die to change the whole course of events in Dobara.

00Kudos to the team of Bilal Abbas, Hadiqa Kiani, and Sakina Samo for their mind-blowing performances in Dobara. Their expressions, dialogue delivery, and their looks all add up to make their avatars worth a watch. It's entertaining yet eye-opening, making the story one of the best on our screens these days.

Consequently, Yasir Nawaz has seized this chance and announced the release of his film ‘Chakkar’, starring Ahsan Khan and Neelum Munir. The film stars the director Yasir himself as well and is an action-packed murder mystery of a thriller. The cast also includes Javed Sheikh, Ahmed Hasan, Mehmood Aslam, and Naved Raza.

The promotional poster and teaser are out, generating hype and hoopla with their intriguing vibe.

The one-minute teaser begins with a horror-struck Neelum Munir under-attack, while Ahsan Khan and Yasir Nawaz appear to be rivals from the looks of one of the scenes in the movie.

The promo surely has done its job, raising curiosity while not revealing any major details. Surely, the makers have left us hanging for more till the official trailer makes its way on our screens.

However, Neelum Munir looks stunning and appears to be sporting different looks throughout the movie. Yasir and Ahsan have enigmatic avatars. So much so, we are left wondering who is the villain and who is the hero amongst them both.

It is indeed a daring move by Yasir Nawaz and Nida Yasir to produce a movie with an experimental genre in the theaters. A large chunk of movie-buffs love romantic and comedy stories. Will Chakkar work in cinemas? Let’s wait and watch.

However, the Power of the Dog is getting all the attention for bagging as many as 12 nominations in the categories of Supporting Actress, Achievement in Sound, Original Score, Adapted Screenplay, Supporting Actor, Film Editing, Cinematography, Production Design, Best Actor, Director, and Best Picture.

The film’s director Jane Campion is truly climbing high in Hollywood. She has made history by becoming the first woman to be nominated more than once for best director. Campion had earlier bagged a nomination for “Paino” in 1994.

What’s more, the nomination list also marked a huge achievement for Steven Speilberg, the producer of the nominated "West Side Story". He, now, boasts the record of producing 11 films nominated for best picture at the Oscars.

The 94th annual Academy Awards will be on March 27 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre.

We loved the patriotism-packed storyline that gave us goosebumps and made us proud to be Pakistani. The spotlight was less on the women this week and more on Shehryar Munawar’s avatar along with his subplot in the tale. However, the actor ruled in all his scenes and dialogues, pumping us all the with the love of our country like never before.

Let’s do a quick review of what fared in Sinf e Aahan last week and what’s next to come in the story.

Explaining the essence of Pakistan's national anthem

Last week, we realized that Kiran (Sonia Mishal) had a beau in the past who was also in the army. This weekend, we got a full-fledged throwback into the love story of Taimoor and Kiran. The pair has aspirations and huge dreams for their future. But even then Taimoor knew he will be a martyr and seems like he did sacrifice his life for Pakistan, leaving a mourning Kiran to reminisce the beautiful time they spent together.

She meets a friend and tries her best to avoid her. She is running away from her as her friend believes she is with Taimoor. We are confused if whether she was married to him before he passed away. Seems like this mystery will be solved in the upcoming episodes.

Meanwhile, the lady cadets (LCs) have a tough time performing during the drill session. But back home, their parents are proud of them and cannot stop singing praises of their daughters joining Pakistan Military Academy.

The best moment of the episode was Major Usama’s (Shehryar Munawar) speech, explaining the essence of our country’s national anthem. The scene left us with goosebumps and made us comprehend our ‘qaumi tarana’ in a whole new light. It was indeed emotional for viewers and the LCs too could be seen teary-eyed, their hearts filled with pride and love for Pakistan.

When the national anthem was played in the episode, we stood in respect and were in awe of the glorious scenes where all cadets stood tall, their souls pumped up with all the patriotism and fervor to serve their motherland.

The friendship between Rabia (Sajal Aly) and Shahista (Yumna Zaidi) is gaining strength, and so does the bond between Mahjabeen (Kubra Khan) and Pariwash (Ramsha Khan). By the end of the episode, we see a clueless squad of LCs being instructed to write letters back home to their favorite family member. Next week, we will see every girl’s preferred addressee and what they will have to say to them. More comedy and some action-packed scenes await us next week. What’s more, Rabia will discover a deep secret of LC Nathmy.

Thumbs up for Shehryar Munawar and Dananeer

Undoubtedly, women are steering Sinf e Aahan and we are loving a glimpse into the life of lady cadets in the PMA. But it was Shehryar Munawar that stole all the spotlight this week.

The scene in which he describes how the national anthem helps the army men and women fight for the homeland was indeed challenging. The actor is addressing the whole nation in this scene. He had to touch hearts, pump us with love for Pakistan and make us realize why we should be ready to serve the country when needed.

The hero indeed pulled it off, portraying an impeccable performance and doing justice to the scene. We could see how Shehryar himself meant every word he was delivering as Major Usama.

Dananeer has limited scenes, as she is essaying a supporting role but is gaining immense appreciation as Sidra. She is hilarious, bubbly, and energetic. Who knew the ‘Pawri girl’ was a natural actor all along.

We also loved how the parents of all the cadets had positive things to say about the army and the daughters and the path their daughters have selected for themselves.

Sinf e Aahan has successfully become an addictive watch, perhaps even more than Ehd e Wafa. Let’s see where the story heads next in the upcoming weeks.

Tall, handsome, and flaunting that hot- stubble and handle-bar moustache; he has acquired quite a fan-base on social media.

But it’s not just his looks that have made him the talk of the town. His acting chops seem quite promising and it's evident that Zaviyar has a long way to go in the industry.

Already flying high by grabbing roles in two massive projects, Hum TV’s Sang-e-Mah and Qissa Meherbano Ka, the young hero is proving to be a dynamic presence on screen. Hopes are high that he will take over his father’s footsteps and will prove that he Is a force to be reckoned with.

Nevertheless, being the son of one of the most wanted stars in showbiz isn’t easy. There are accusations of encouraging the practice of nepotism on both father and son. However, in a recent interview with Voice of America Urdu, Naumaan Aijaz quashed all such rumors by revealing how he was initially hesitant of Zaviyar aspiring a career in acting.

Speaking to the renowned journalist, Omair Alavi in a video interview for Voice of America Urdu, he narrated the entire tale of Zaviyar’s launch in dramas.

“It was a coincidence that he got into the industry last year. He never went into media gatherings with me nor paid any visit to any of the sets of my dramas. No one had seen him or met him.

Last year, my elder son told me that wanted to act. I asked him ‘how come?’. He replied that I also perform theater in my university and I have developed this inclination to pursue it.

However, I told him that you will not look attractive on the screen since you have a lot of weight. Since you are just 23-24 years old, you need to cut down your weight. You need a lot of motivation for this and the passion for acting comes from within. It cannot be like that you wake up one day and aspire that you want to perform. That is not possible."

Naumaan further added how his son fulfilled his ambition and lost weight for this purpose.

“After our discussion, he worked on himself and lost weight up to 25-27 kgs. He also developed sciatica pain because of it. I saw motivation in him and we were on holiday when he walked with me on the ramp for Uniworth. If I would have wanted to launch him, I would have created a production myself and featured him in it. He just got an opportunity on his own and asked me if he can pursue it. To that, I told him that he surely can!”

The interview surely revealed the real tale of Zaviyar’s introduction in the world of showbiz. The rising star has unlimited potential, which can be seen in his performances as Mehran in Qissa Meherbano Ka and Hikmat in Sang e Mah.

With every passing episode, the journey of the headstrong girls towards Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) is progressing as they strive to break norms and chase their dreams.

We are loving how the lives of Arzoo, Pariwesh, Rabia, Mahjabeen, and Shahista are taking a turn to support their ambition, their families gradually supporting them to pursue their wildest desire.

Let’s rewind what happened last Friday in Sinf e Ahan and why it left us craving for more!

Empowerment all around

It was liberating to witness how Shahista (Yumna Zaidi) and her father reached an accord with the Pakhtoon girl’s desire to become a captain. He proudly told his family how his daughter has cleared ISSB and will soon make it big in the Pakistan Army.

Arzoo (Syra Yousuf) couldn’t be happier on unlocking the first step towards becoming an army woman. She felt accomplished until Noraiz (Asad Siddiqui) tried to crush her spirits, making her feel guilty for chasing the army dream over him. Deep down, he is insecure and feels jealous. We are waiting for the day when she will shut him down for good for emotionally manipulating her.

The happiest of the lot appeared to be Pariwesh’s (Ramsha Khan) father. Since he is all about empowering his daughter, he is ready to fight the Sardar of the clan to ensure she makes it to Kakul. Despite being discreet about the good feat, news traveled fast in the tribe that Pariwesh has made it to PMA.

We also came to know how deep Mahjabeen and Rabia’s friendship was in the past. In a detailed throwback, we witnessed how Mahjabeen was all praises for Daniyal (Usman Mukhtar) when Rabia revealed to her that she has hunted down a bhabhi for her brother. But why things didn't go ahead between Mahjabeen and Daniyal? We are curious to find out.

While Dananeer was missing from the episode, we were introduced to the Sri Lankan actress, Nathmy Parrera (Yehali Tashiya). Her father was affiliated with PMA and she, being a Sri Lankan army recruit, has been selected for training at Kakul for 6 months. We loved the peacefulness in her character and the bond she shared with her mother. Nathmy is also looking for her father’s long-lost friend Mujahid and we wonder what his character will add to the story.

The promo of the next episode revealed Shehryar Munawar’s entry into the plot. Seemed like the next episode will be power-packed, with the girls kickstarting their military lives at Kakul.

Scenes that moved us!

Since its first episode, Sinf e Ahan featured scenes and dialogues that warmed our hearts. This week, we loved how Shahista’s father stood up against his conventional mother to support her daughter. His chest swelled with pride when he met the people of his clan who congratulated him for having a child who will be the first female army officer in the family. Similarly, the scene where Pariwash and her whole family enjoy television together and are in awe of the men in uniform was empowering to watch.

We also enjoyed the sweet chemistry between Rabia and Mahjabeen, while they stood in the kitchen making kebabs. Hopefully, army life will unite them again, blessing us with more heartwarming scenes between the duo. Equally lovable were Nathmy’s deep conversations with her mother and her deceased father. The scene where the mother-daughter sat beneath the stars to enjoy a heart-to-hear)t was endearing. The performances displayed by all actresses are impeccable and Yehali Tashiya’s acting prowess is equally compelling. However, we strongly believe that Yumna Zaidi has a more challenging task of portraying a Pashtun girl. Her Pashto accent is on-point, so is her body language and expressions. She is cute, fiery, and strong in her avatar, making her character as Shahista an addictive watch.

We truly cannot get enough of Sinf e Ahan. We are predicting that the drama will surely make it big, probably even bigger than Ehd e Wafa.

The recent ISPR project Sinf e Ahan, celebrating women's empowerment in the army, is a powerful example of this. Previously, a telefilm based on General Nigar’s hard work was also released on ARY Digital. Now, next in line to hit our television screens is ‘Hangor’, yet again a telefilm that puts the Pakistan Navy and the bravery of its soldiers in the limelight.

The trailer of the story has hit our screens and we are mesmerized by witnessing an impressive television adaption of a proud event of the 1971 Indo-Pak war that earlier, was just recorded in history books.

A lone Pak submarine against the enemy ships

Written by Saji Gul and directed by Saqib Khan, the telefilm needed to have a cast truly grand to do justice to its story, based on a true glory by the Navy. Consequently, we spotted high-performers like Javed Sheikh, Zahid Ahmed, Saba Qamar, Affan Ahmed, Dur-e-Fishan, and Shahzad Sheikh in the trailer.

The promo kickstarts with a majestic view of the French-built Daphne-class submarine ‘Hangor’, submerged in the Arabian sea. The scene shifts towards how the young soldiers of Pakistan’s Navy geared up to face the Indian ships when the news of the War of 1971 broke out. The narrative then builds towards the gallant Navy men leaving no stone unturned to disrupt the Indian operation that planned to attack Karachi.

The men in Hangor then launched torpedo attacks, sinking the Indian Navy's frigate INS Khukri and damaging the second warship INS Kirpan.

From the looks of the trailer, Hangor will be a moving homage to not only the uniformed heroes of the navy but even their families that remained steadfast, praying for the safe return of their loved ones.

We must admit that the male cast, depicting the navy men, appear graceful, dignified, and handsome in their avatars. The dialogues depict their fervor to serve the nation and their passion to protect the land. It can only make our hearts swell with pride to see it all in the trailer and we can't wait to watch it all on the telefilm.

Soon to be released, the air date is still a mystery. However, this is the third such recent project being broadcast on ARY Digital and we sincerely hope that this trend continues to thrive, spreading awareness amongst the nation about the chivalrous soldiers that serve our homeland.

With an already tragic storyline, the tale has taken an even more melancholic twist. The plot also has certain loopholes we want to question. However, one thing is certain- we all hate Aswad from the core of our souls.

Let’s take a quick throwback to what happened last night in Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay and why it ended up moving us so much.

Mehreen's life is officially destroyed

After Mashal's (Kubra Khan) death, Aswad (Usman Mukhtar) has always been taking out his frustration on Mehreen (Mahira Khan). Our heroine took all his fury without uttering a word. Her character bore it all like the typical damsel-in-distress depicted in Pakistani dramas.

Lost in his negativity, Aswad had turned blind to all the truth that was right in front of him. He became so dim-witted that he questioned his own mother and claimed Mehreen as the criminal without proof.

In this episode, we saw the consequence of all the mental torture Aswad inflicted upon Mehreen. Earlier, he made Mehreen sign an affidavit claiming that she is responsible for Mashal’s death. The pressure he inflicted upon his wife resulted in her suffering from a nervous breakdown.

During that painful mental anguish, Mehreen sees Mashal telling her ways to kill herself. Then later, in another one of her hallucinations, she meets her father (Omair Rana). He apologizes for leaving his family and requests his daughter not to be a coward like he was.

Eventually, Mehreen gets admitted to the hospital. Her breakdown incident lays the foundation for Aswad finally realizing what a fool he has been. With his wife lying in the hospital, he visits his Nani's home to collect leftover stuff of Mehreen's. The meeting with his grandma and the maid, Shabbo (Kaif Ghaznavi) opened various shocking revelations.

It finally dawned upon him how Mehreen was treated like an outsider in the home. His Nani (Shamim Hillaly) confesses that she misses Mehreen and realizes her granddaughter's worth now that she is not around to care for her. Shabbo tells him everything; how Mashal used to enter Mehreen's room to steal her inhaler, how Mashal was a chain smoker, used to take sleeping pills at night, and used to torture Mehreen with her shenanigans.

So much so, Shabbo finally spills the beans over what happened that night of Mashal's death. Mashal had asked Shabbo to mix sleeping pills in Mehreen's food and later her tea. It seems like Mashal wanted to kill Mehreen with an overdose of her sleeping pills.

But how did Mashal end up taking the cup of tea and dying that night? The episode ended on a cliffhanger and we are curious over how Mashal became the one drinking the infiltrated tea.

However, we are relieved that Aswad has finally realized that Mehreen was right all along. Mashal had lied about everything; about Mehreen being mean to her Nani, being a failure at studies, smoking, and hanging affairs with a variety of men.

While it all dawned upon him too late, the damage is now done. Mehreen's character is walking the path of destruction. The best moment of the episode was Aswad's meeting with the psychiatrist (Nadia Hussain). After a very strict interrogation, she deduces how Aswad has been mentally abusing his wife and is the one who actually needed therapy all long. She also teaches him the various forms of abuse and makes him realize that he has been the real culprit in this marriage. After all, there was no difference between him and Mashal, and they both ended up destroying the life of an innocent.

Best Episode so Far

We must admit that the weakness of Mehreen’s character carved in the plot is quite bothersome. An empowered woman suddenly becomes a damsel-in-distress and falls in love with her abuser. He continues to torture her but Mehreen is shown as being silent and patiently listening to all the disturbing taunts. So much so, she starts losing her sanity. This is not the first Pakistani drama to show Stockholm Syndrome in all its glory and we believe that this narrative needs to be strongly nipped in the bud.

We disliked the fact that Shabbo divulged the truth too late in the plot. She has never sympathized with Mehreen when it was needed and always aided Mashal in making her life miserable. She too is responsible for the wreck created in the lives of all families involved.

However, we must give praise where praise is due! We loved how the writer Umera Ahmed taught the audience the various shapes of abuse in a marital relationship. It is also admirable that with one powerful scene in the episode, she imparted the message that it's always the abuser who is in true need of therapy as it's his or her sick-mindedness that eventually leads to the destruction of an innocent soul.

Mahira Khan has truly won us with her performance, making this episode the best so far of Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay. She cries like a helpless child when she sees her dead father and we wept along with her. The scene was a major tear-jerker, serving us a strong message about the anguish of a mentally-ill soul. Their pain is unimaginable and the best we can do is to provide them with the relevant medical help.

Most women in Pakistani dramas are shown to be weak while they continue to live in the shadow of their harassers. If truth be told, Mehreen should surely leave Aswad as she gets treated. Why live with someone who never understood your life-long mental trauma? He might have realized his mistakes, but as we said, it's too late. It is time for Aswad to repent and probably the best way for him to do so, is to free Mehreen, once and for all!

The ISPR backed drama received a welcoming reception, boasting immense potential for a plot centered on women empowerment and the participation of females in the country’s army. The cast of leading ladies has been well-selected, with each actress competent in her own way.

Starring Kubra Khan, Sajal Aly, Yumna Zaidi, Syra Yousuf, and Ramsha Khan; the drama revolving around the lives of five young women across Pakistan is humorous, moving, and indeed eye-opening.

Let’s do a quick review of what developed this week in Sinf e Ahan, penned by Umera Ahmed and directed by Nadeem Baig.

Ladies gear up for ISSB

The first episode gave us a peep into the kind of lives Arzoo (Syra Yousuf), Mahjabeen (Kubra Khan), Rabia (Sajal Aly), Shaista (Yumna Zaidi), and Pariwesh (Ramsha Khan) are leading. Some of them have strong, motivating voices around them who encourage them to pursue the army. The rest battle through societal norms, patriarchy, and stereotypes to eventually reach the ISSB.

In the latest episode, we realized how tired Arzoo is of chasing Noraiz (Asad Siddiqui) who is not only playing games with her but also is a chauvinist of the highest degree. He manifests from his thinking that Arzoo can nowhere come near his status of being a government officer nor she will ever get into the army.

The same is with Mahjabeen whose close friend (Ali Rehman) tries to talk her out of this new path. He makes her realize that she has an extravagant salary of a corporate lawyer and a luxurious lifestyle that she will have to sacrifice for the army. While it's true that Mahjabeen is a pampered daughter of a wealthy elite couple in Islamabad, she is still willing to give it to all earn a status like General Nigar.

We were also properly introduced to Danyal (Usman Mukhtar) the young, dandy brother of Rabia. He visits his home from duty only to find Rabia running for her life, being scared by a mouse. Disappointed though he is, he still persuades his parents to let her take the ISSB test for they have been trying hard to get her married and failed regardless.

Yet another case of a man supporting a woman is seen in Pariwesh’s case. Her father is ready to spend all his savings to get her admitted to Pakistan’s Military Academy. The Balochi girl fears no one and her daring father, who comes from a not so influential background, is her strength all the more.

But it is Shaista who has both parents ignorant of her passion for being an army woman. She has her younger sister (Meerub Ali) who is helping her out of love and she alone becomes her elder sister’s sheer supporter in her secret.

While they all pass the initial test, they are gearing up for a psychological test ahead for which they have to stay at the ISSB. Seems like a one-of-a-kind adventure is in store for them and our girls are ready to face all the challenges.

Different Backgrounds but similar trials

Sinf e Ahan will surely be a profound story that will end teaching us important life lessons. However, we are already realizing that sometimes the disparity of status, education, and religion has nothing to do with the challenges women face in Pakistan.

The affluent, too, are battling issues of a dysfunctional family. They have money and are well-educated. Yet they still own a retrogressive mindset where they believe that women might not have all the strength to earn an army uniform. They too perceive that girls should marry and settle down with a guy which will bring happiness to their lives.

Meanwhile, the women who live in villages are daughters of parents that have almost no educational background. They too are afraid of girls in their family getting too empowered, too scholarly, and too bold to stand neck to neck with men. Very few, lucky daughters have fathers like Pariwesh who think progressive regardless of living in a conservative society.

The narrative depicted in the tale is distinctive and amongst the most progressive of the season. We bet that despite their age difference, the leading pair of Bilal Abbas and Hadiqa Kiani will become amongst the most popular couples of the year.

Their chemistry on-screen is moving and the blossoming friendship of their characters is entertaining to watch. Let’s do a quick review of Dobara’s recent episode and critique the latest developments in the plot.

A not-so-traditional friendship

Mahir (Bilal Abbas) is upset over the chaos that has happened at Mehreen’s (Zoya Nasir) home. After getting caught for stealing his grandmother’s bangles from his stepmother, he is thrown out of his father’s home. However, he doesn’t realize that this setback will be the one that will change his life forever.

While he is fast asleep in the park- his abode for the night out of his home, he is discovered by Mehru (Hadiqa Kiani). He unburdens himself in front of his new friend, telling her how he has lost Zoya to poverty and refrains from telling her the blunder he committed.

Mehru has a soft heart and deeply cares for the new supporter in her life. She takes him out on breakfast and the duo enjoys their morning with a life-hearted chat of the clichéd norms of the society. What they don’t realize is that Zameer (Nabeel Zafar) has spotted them in their candid tea session in the café and immediately gets concerned with what he witnessed.

Affan (Usama Khan) and Sehar’s (Sabeen Syed) are all set to get married! Enthusiastically supporting them in this union is Hidyatullah’s sister and Affan’s phuppo (Sakina Samo), even though Mehru is dubious about Sehar as her daughter-in-law.

While they all pay a visit to Sehar’s home to meet her parents and fix the wedding date, Mehru yet again faces sardonic jibes from the bride-to-be’s mother (Amber Khan). She bluntly claimed that the widow, who once seemed sober and sophisticated, has drastically changed after her husband’s death.

But this was not enough and the stereotypical attacks continued for Mehru. During one of the shopping sessions for the wedding; Sehar tells her mother-in-law that flaunting vibrant colors will not be suitable for her. Sehar is that one character who has been depicted harboring a conservative mindset.

Despite belonging to Generation Z, her mentality is old-school. We wonder why her avatar has been carved as unreceptive to contemporary societal perceptions when we gravely need to depict our youngsters as broad-minded, smart, understanding, and impartial in their ways.

Our dear Mehru cares about no one. She tries on all the dazzling dresses in front of Hidyatullah’s sister, who is outraged to see the spark in her.

Apparently, she keeps reminding her that she is a widow, should keep wearing sarees to please her deceased husband’s soul, and should not be friends with young boys like Mahir.

We are sure that the nosy phuppo is going to be a pain in the neck for Mehru. The promo of the next episode shows how Mehru and Mahir’s not-so-typical bond continues to thrive over tennis, heart-to-heart conversations, and even dancing.

The plot gets interesting with every passing episode

We love how every episode has a fresh development and the drama has not gotten stagnant so far. Maintaining its rising graph of interesting turns, Dobara has become that one feel-good story we wait for every Wednesday. Mahir and Mehru’s lovable equation is irresistible and we cannot get enough of it on-screen. Every scene featuring them leaves us craving for more.

It is also praise-worthy how slowly and gradually the plot is shunning all taboos related to widows in Pakistan. Their life doesn’t end with the death of their partner and we need to encourage such women to remain high-spirited. Phuppo’s character is a depiction of our society’s dark and suffocating mindset that attempts to quash liveliness out of people.

Kudos to Hadiqa, Bilal, and Sakina Samo for making us addicted to their performance. The team together is brilliantly making this drama a powerful watch for all ages!

Starring Mahira Khan, Usman Mukhtar, and Kubra Khan in leading roles; the drama has reached the height of gloom and we are wondering how much more torture will Mehreen undergo.

We genuinely feel for her and the recent updates in the story are making us ponder over the character’s fate. Let’s do a quick review of what paced in the episode this Sunday and why we are so worried about Mehreen’s future in the story.

Never-ending misery for Mehreen

If we are correct, Mehreen is on the verge of being a schizophrenic. Solitude and depression are getting the better of her. It all starts with her suffering from anxiety dreams where she witnesses Mashal mocking her for being a failure while Aswad belongs to her and her alone. She wakes up startled only to find Aswad at the doorstep as he has returned to Karachi.

Initially, he is perplexed to see her fanatical and babbling about Mashal still being alive. He calms her down but remembers after a while how Mashal told him about Mehreen being a drama queen and a liar. He takes a sarcastic dig at his wife, calling her a great actress while she is still trying to recover from the nightmare.

However, this is just the start of the torture Mehreen will be put through by Aswad. When she dolls up for him, he taunts her for hating how she looks with or without make-up. He takes a mean jive at her for being ugly inside out, shattering her confidence and killing her self-esteem.

To make matter worse, he decides to pull another stunt by making Mehreen apologize to Mashal’s father (Ali Tahir). When she stands up for herself and refuses to accompany him; he tries to scare her by being violent, raising his hands to show power and authority.

But this act of ferociousness surprises him too and we see him hurting himself for turning this hateful of a person. Poor Mehreen gets scared to death and submits to his threat of apologizing to Tahir, only to get humiliated and disgraced by Mashal’s parents. They make it clear how much they want her to die and suffer for killing their daughter. Aswad observes it all without batting an eye, in fact, even admonishes her in front of them. Meanwhile, Mashal continues to haunt Mehreen, confirming our belief that she is hallucinating and might turn schizophrenic.

The only sane voice amidst all the chaos remains that of Aswad’s mother (Huma Nawab). Saleha stands up for her daughter-in-law but we wish she could do a lot more rather than just schooling Aswad.

The promo of the next episode doesn’t seem so enticing other than the scene where Tahir reveals that he finally knows the real reason for Mashal’s death. We wonder what he has discovered now in all this time.

Incredible Performances remain the strength of the story

Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay is garnering a lot of attention on social media for sure. Some hate the frequent throwbacks in the story, criticize the overuse of OST, and are very sarcastic about the character-building of Mehreen. But despite all criticism, the story keeps us hooked every time due to the powerful performances of all celebrities in the cast.

Huma Nawab deserves all the praise for doing justice to her role. Usman Mukhtar has been giving a stagnant delivery so far in his acting but he raised the bar in the recent episode. He is playing the toxic side of Aswad to his best.

But it is Mahira Khan that has taken her performance to next level in the last episode, so much so, we are in love with her scenes and are in awe of her impeccable portrayal as Mehreen. She aptly showcases the terror and fear her character feels. Her eyes depict the sadness the scene demands and her dialogue delivery is on-point.

We are wondering where the story goes next. But we truly want Mehreen to be at peace now and enjoy a happy ending to the tale. What’s next to come, let’s wait and watch.

A much-awaited twist in the plot, we are finally moving towards unveiling the mystery of the walking ghost, her husband, and her death. While she is ensuring she haunts the living daylights of Aman, Sumbul, Minal, and the rest of the family; she herself had a troubling past.

But why is she after Minal? That’s a question that is yet to be answered by the makers of the show. Let’s take a quick throwback of what has happened in Neeli Zinda Hai this Thursday and what is coming up next in the story.

The secret behind Neeli’s murder

The episode begins with Aalim Sahib doing his best to bring peace to the household. Apparently, they all are fighting amongst themselves to survive in the haunted home. Being the only sane voice around, Aalim Sahab tries to school them, giving the message of unity in times when an outside force intends to oust them. The only sweet moment of this episode was Aman’s mother (Kinza Malik) eventually apologizing to Sumbul (Sonia Mishal), holding out an olive branch and hugging her to end all the disputes. But she is still not satisfied with Minal (Baby Tehreem) living with them. Believing that Neeli (Urwa Hocane) surely possesses her, she gives a ringing bell to the young child, to remain alert about her whereabouts.


Meanwhile, Nawab’s (Agha Mustafa) chapter finally ends in the drama with Neeli getting her ultimate revenge with his death. It all begins with his wife discovering an old photograph of him, Neeli, and her husband. Of course, she lost her cool and threatened him that she will kick him out of the house if he fails to tell her about Neeli.

Poor Nawab was unable to satisfy her and the ill-fated happens- his wife abandons him outside the house. However, Nawab somehow makes his way to Aman’s (Mohib Mirza) home. Still holding the old photo in his lap, he encounters Neeli, pleads for forgiveness, and dies with his wheelchair coming in front of a vehicle. All of this is witnessed by Aman who also discovers the frail picture that falls on the ground after the accident.

This kickstarts another chapter in the story- the one featuring Neeli’s husband Pervaiz (Osama Tahir) and his mother (Shamim Hilaly). We see that Pervaiz is living in a shabby home while his mother is sick and suffers from dementia.

She has surely committed some major crime because we witness Pervaiz praying for her easy death and forgiveness.

She doesn’t remember her son who takes care of her while surprisingly remembers the name of her remaining children. It was quite melancholic the way she begs her son to kill her, giving us a hint that guilt and misery are surely killing her from within.

On the other hand, Sumbul and Aman try to get to the bottom of the situation by looking through Neeli’s old things and finding more images of the dead woman with her husband.


The promo of the next episode shows Amaan finally hunting down Pervaiz and her husband narrating the story of his wife and the lost days of the past.

Heading towards the finale

The earlier episode of Neeli Zinda Hai showed little development and slowed down after the death of Amaan’s father in the story. However, the previous episode pumped us up again and we are finally excited to know the reality of the witch that has been haunting us for all these weeks.

Kudos to Agha Mustafa, who played a supporting role, but aced his performance of being a paralyzed patient. We also loved Osama Tahir’s return to the story and are eager to see him more in the upcoming episodes.

An equally compelling performance was portrayed by Shamim Hilaly in this episode. We loved the scene where she kept taking names of her sons and missed out on that one name who was in front of her all along. Let’s see what new developments are in store for us in next week’s episode of Neeli Zinda Hai.

The plot of the tale is keeping us intrigued and is getting interesting with every passing episode. Not only the cast is doing justice to their roles, the writer Rukhsana Nigar has smartly devised a storyline that is packed with uncertainty and suspense.

We are in love with Urwa Hocane and Imran Abbas’s chemistry on-screen. Let’s do a quick review of what has been happening in Amanat and what are we expecting next from the drama.

Zuni is up to no good

Our vamp Zuni (Saboor Aly) might have married Junaid (Haroon Shahid) to teach Zarrar (Imran Abbas) a lesson, but she is eventually realizing the gravity of the situation she has landed herself in.

Of course, she is unhappy and is burning in misery, so much so she even intends to kill her new husband. She insults and disrespects him, admonishing him for being a weakling.

Meanwhile, Zarrar is still clueless on how to clean the new mess he has created for himself and Meher (Urwa Hocane). His mother (Saba Hamid) has kickstarted a hate campaign against Meher and despises her presence in the household. However, Zarrar’s father is the sensible one in the family and suggests that his son and Meher do a Nikkah for real to avoid further grievances in the future.

A reluctant Zarrar has no option but to listen to his father and agree to the forced nuptials. Apparently, he convinces Meher as well, owing to his dad’s pressure. But this causes Zuni to unleash his wrath upon Zarrar.

Tear-stricken and heartbroken, she turns her despair into anger. She eventually befriends Junaid and intends to use him to seek revenge on Zarrar. Meanwhile, our hero and Meher begin their life as newly-married couples. Awkward in the beginning, this new chapter will surely ripe into a blooming romance for them.

The merciless Malik Furqan (Babar Ali) got little screentime this week but he is departing for his son's treatment and orders his servants to keep an eye on Mehar at all times.

The promo of the next episode reveals Zuni on a warpath against Mehar. But our damsel in distress finally gathers some courage to respond!

Meher needs to gather some courage

We have seen Urwa performing daring roles like she recently did in Mushk and Neeli Zinda Hai. Consequently, we are excited to witness her character coming out of her shell and battling against villains in the story like Malik Furqan and Zuni.

Several comments beneath the YouTube episode of Amanat reveal that the audience is also sympathizing with Zuni. Seems like Saboor’s character is garnering some love despite her evil nature.

However, we genuinely feel that Zuni has left Zarrar solely cause of her impulsiveness and brash attitude. A little smartness from her end would have gone a long way and saved her relationship.

But now that their chapter is over, we are excited to see the romantic chemistry between Urwa and Imran Abbas. So far, their characters have been distant and their love equation has been absent from the scenes.

A TikTok user was harassed and groped by a mob of 400 men in broad daylight when she visited Minar-e-Pakistan to shoot a video with her friends.
