The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) asked Geo News to stop broadcasting MQM chief Altaf Hussain's interview on Wednesday, as reported by Journalism Pakistan.

Reportedly, the interview was recorded for the program 'Jigra' hosted by Salim Safi and it was scheduled to be telecasted at 11pm.

As per the sources, Geo News was instructed not to air the interview only a few hours prior to the time it had to be broadcasted.

Surprisingly, the interview this time around was not controversial; as a matter of fact, it highlighted national unity wherein Hussain was also expected to sing a national song.

“There was nothing controversial in it. We don’t know as to why Geo was asked not to air it,” he said. “Altaf Hussain talked about national unity and even sang a national song during the interview.”

it's also important to mention here that PEMRA has put a ban on live speeches of Hussain. However, following his party's resignations from the parliament and Sindh Assembly, many different channels were seen broadcasting his detailed interviews.
