It was celebrity galore at the Indian High Commission's Iftar event

From Atif Aslam and Ali Zafar to Maya Ali and Meera, star power was at it's peak at the event held on Thursday night.

Celebrities were seen out and about this Ramazan, catching up over massive Iftar spreads. But Thursday night's Iftar gathering was a different ball game altogether, taking Instagram feeds by storm. The new ambassador of India to Pakistan, Mr. Gautam Bambawale, and his wife, Mrs. Amita Bambawale hosted a splendid Iftar event at the Serena Hotel, Islamabad, bringing local celebrities from all walks of life under one roof. Be it diplomats, businessmen, socialites or celebrities, it was a high-flying affair for the rather uneventful city.

From amongst celebrities, Atif Aslam, was undoubtedly the centre of attention, being mobbed by fans from both sides of the border. I had last met Atif almost seven years ago but it seemed nothing had changed. The singing sensation did not refuse to a single picture or autograph and had the same down to earth attitude towards his followers that he had, years ago.

Talented actress Maya Ali, who is currently a meme favourite on social media for her role as Mannu in Mann Mayal, but perhaps less than Jeena (Aisha Khan), flew all the way from Karachi to grace the event. She looked elegant in a traditional Maria B. outfit. While her fans surrounded her for a selfie, she, too, had fan girl moment with Atif.

Accompanying Maya was her Mera Naam Yousaf Hai co-star and a popular Pakistani export to B-town, Imran Abbas. The two can be seen here with Meera Jee, who chose to wear an elegant silk sari (we can't say the same for her blonde hair extensions though) and kept the media busy with her usual antics), and Mr. Bambawale.

The Rockstar singer and actor, Ali Zafar was also present at the event. Ali sure knows a thing or too about charming his fans - he was constantly interacting with them, happily posing for a selfie and more. But what we absolutely loved about Ali was his traditional all-white shalwar kameez that made him stand out in the crowd.

Living legends; musicians, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shafqat Amanat Ali and actor, Javed Sheikh, who have played pivotal roles in promoting the trade of talent between Pakistan and India and have been associated with some of Bollywood's most memorable productions, were also present at the event.

Model-turned-actress, Sadia Khan of Khuda Aur Muhabbat fame stunned in a Hina Butt off-shoulder, emerald-green ensemble. She was shared the table with our very own Rawalpindi express, bowler Shoaib Akhtar.

Ali Saleem aka Begum Nawazish Ali and comedians, Waseem Vicky of Comedy Nights with Kapil fame and Shakeel were also spotted at the event.

The event, that began on a high note, didn't quite have the perfect ending as the celebrities left soon after dinner was served. But it was nonetheless a glamorous and starry evening that Islamabad will remember for long.
