Hamza Ali Abbasi's show on BOL; news or PTI advert?

Even though we loved Hamza Ali Abbasi as an anchor, we can't help but question his statement about not being biased

Hamza Ali Abbasi, is a celebrity who is known for speaking his mind. At first his Facebook posts and videos went viral, and then he went on to host a Ramzan transmission that landed him in hot water because of his discussion on the persecution of Ahmadis in Pakistan. And now, the influential Pyaray Afzal star is back in the game with a new show, BOL News Headquarters.

With the news broadcast, people were hoping Abbasi could bring something different to the table. However, a part of us wonders, whether BOL is simply cashing into Abbasi's celebrity status, or if the channel really wants to make a groundbreaking social difference by opting for an influential celebrity? Oh well, only time will tell. Here's how the first episode went down.

The show opened with Abbasi stating, "Welcome to BOL News Headauarters, a place where we aim to provide news without any masala and bias."

We got excited at hearing this, assuming Abbasi would now give us an overview of all the news in an exemplary and ethical manner. However, we were left disappointed when Firdous Naqvi, founder member of PTI, was called over as the guest to help analyze the news.

The second broadcast of the news show, also saw Sher zaman, senior Vice President PTI as a guest. The show then went on to criticize the government, and numerous other political parties from the PTI point of view.

Even though we loved Hamza Ali Abbasi as an anchor, we can't help but question his statement about not being biased. From where we stand, the news show appears to be a PTI promotional campaign.

However, let's give Abbasi the benefit of the doubt, and see what further episodes of the news show have in store for the audience. Maybe he will invite members of other political parties to defend their stance. For now, keep rocking the news broadcast Hamza, we are proud of you for taking up such a venture!

To watch Abbasi speak his mind, tune into BOL, everyday at 9pm.
