Omer Shahzad is one of the most acclaimed male models of Pakistan, not only has he been the face of all leading brands in the country, but has also represented Pakistan at international runways. He’s one of those very few models whose transition to acting has not only been successful, but also sustainable. After a handful of serials, the actor made a leap into cinemas with the forgettable Teri Meri Love Story, but has done exceedingly well on television.
Adding another feather to his cap, Shahzad has signed onto the ongoing, chartbuster Alif Allah Aur Insaan. “There’s a message in this serial: us, mortals aspire and want a lot of things, but only what Allah wants for us, happens; so based on that, there are four stories in the serial, one of which is mine and all are basically inter-connected,” he tells HIP, exclusively.
Before we get all ecstatic about it, Alif Allah Aur Insaan already has an ensemble star cast comprising of established actors such as Mikaal Zulfiqar, Sana Fukher, Ushna Shah, Shahzad Sheikh, Kubra Khan and Imran Ashraf amongst others. Finding his place amidst the chaos and characters that have already made their way to our hearts can be a taxing task. Omer thinks otherwise.
“It does have many characters, but all of them are very much there. You can’t ignore any of them because each character builds the story, and it actually feels amazing being a part of such a stellar star cast,” the actor claimed. “Also, my part is very strong, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”
“I’m also coming with a whole new look, I have a moustache, I’m wearing a bracelet in my hand and am always in shalwar kameez, so it’s kind of a wadera look and that’s something I’ve never done before,” Omer continues. “I’m also very confident about it because my director told me that this particular character was in line with my presence.”
All praises for his director, Omer observed, “It was a wonderful experience working with Ahsan Talish, my director. He’s very accommodative. As an actor, I’ve always received great feedback, but there’s pressure this time because a lot of people are following Alif Allah Aur Insaan and I’m anxiously waiting for my part to begin.”
And so are we. Without delving into any details of the plot, Omer did reveal that his chunk in the play is rather romantic compared to the others that shed light upon taboo subjects such as transgender in our society and prostitution. Here’s wishing the heartthrob all the luck for his next outing and future endeavors.
