One of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the world are the Emmy Awards which this year will mark its 69th year as it honors the best in primetime television programming from June 1 2016 till May 31 2017. With the nominations having been announced by Anna Chlumsky and Shemar Moore on July 13 2017, there was good news for the British=Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed who got nominated for not one, but two Emmy categories!
With us rooting for him, Riz Ahmed along with Matthew Rhys and Alec Baldwin are among the stars who received more than one Emmy nomination on Thursday morning for their work on multiple projects eligible for the 2017 award show. Ahmed was nominated for lead actor in a limited series/movie for HBO’s The Night Of and he was also nominated for his guest stint on HBO’s Girls in which he played a love interest to Lena Dunham.
Riz Ahmed is a British-Pakistani actor as well as a rapper and an activist who was also featured on Time magazine’s most influential people of 2017 list, taking the cover. Also known as Riz MC, it was his breakout role in Night Crawler which brought him the recognition he deserved. Since then, he has appeared in movies like Una, Jason Bourne as well as the first Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One.
As we mentioned above he is also a activist who is known for his political rap music as well as his involvement in raising funds for Syrian refugee children. With him staring as Nasir Khan in the HBO miniseries The Night Of, the show and his performance have been critically lauded, which has also earned him Golden Globe and SAG nominations. Having received two Emmy nominations for his spectacular performances, HIP would like to wish the star all the best for the big day which will be held in Los Angeles and for always representing Pakistan optimistically.
