Rup Magon of JoSH impresses 'Lagaan' director with his Hollywood debut

Seems Rup's artistic gifts go beyond a single field.

Jumping from one field to another, Canadian-Sikh Rup Magon, best known as the co-singer for the band JoSH, turned to professional acting with his Hollywood debut. Rup Magon has had some of the most successful songs and owns a unique voice in the music industry. But has talents don’t just end vocally. His artistic gifts go beyond a single field. He can sing, dance and act. Making his Hollywood film debut with The Black Prince, a movie on the life of the last king of Punjab, Rupinder seems to have created a name for himself in the industry.

We’ve seen Rup on screen many times before, so it’s not odd to see that he feels comfortable in front of the camera. After all, he has been a well-known face on television for music videos and a few movies too. Rup’s acting has earned him fame and respect for his talents by more than one person. It seems that he has been able to charm many under his spells of charisma.

One such fan Rup gained was none other than the well-known director of the movie Lagaan, Ashutosh Gowariker.

“I was sitting right next to Ashutosh at the film's London premiere. When the film ended, he told me that I held my own in the film and coming from somebody like him, I was honored.” said Rup on the remarks he gained for his performance in The Black prince. No doubt coming from a man of such critique and experience, surely such a comment means nothing more than an earned medal.

The film is shot with one of the most beautiful names known in the Indian film industry, Shabana Azmi. Seems the Canadian-Sikh is the master of many languages and this has a lot to do with being able to take part in many fields of life and being able to carry out characters in a well-organized and portrayed manner.
