After much anticipations and speculations, there is finally hope for Shoaib Mansoor's Verna. The film will be releasing today, as per its schdule without any cuts. As confirmed by chairperson CBFC, Mobasher Hasan, in an interview to BBC, Verna has been cleared for release without any cuts. The film will be releasing in its original form without any scene changes, cuts or audio censors.

Although Verna is still awaiting its Punjab review, the film has been given a go ahead in Sindh for screening as per schedules and bookings are now available for confirmed shows.

Mahira Khan starrer Verna had its release banned initially by CBFC deeming it unsuitable for viewers. It was speculated that the film's sensitive topic that depicted politicians and the systems in the country as corrupt and dealt with a rape victim's story, had the censor board in the country in a frenzy.

Shoaib Mansoor's Verna Banned?

Support poured out from the fraternity in Pakistan and across the border as well. Celebrities came out speaking against the Verna ban and condemning censor board for an unjustified decision. Shoaib Mansoor, the filmmaker, had gone into an immediate appeal for his movie after which a full board review was scheduled.

Here's how Mahira Khan and others chose to answer the ban on Verna!

However, all's well that ends well. And while the Punjab certificate is still pending, Verna releases in major areas without any slashes. A win for the industry and the filmmakers for sure.
