Lahore Qalandar, went for the flashiest pick of the auction in Chris Lynn. They already had a very good top 3 in Brendan Mccullum, Fakhar Zaman and Umer Akmal. But they strengthened it with Chris Lynn. The top 4, is as good as any other side in the PSL if not better. From there onwards, the batting looks weak. Sohail Akhtar has done well and looks a strong hitter of a cricket ball but its still early days in his career. From there, Lahore Qalandars have bowlers who can hit a few sixes. Narine, in PSL may not enjoy the success of BPL with the bat.
So unless Angelo Matthew becomes available for most matches (very unlikely), Lahore Qalandars do face an potential weak point. They should try to fill that hole in their squad using their 21st pick from the National T20 tournament. Not many outstanding candidates are in consideration here. Batting below 4 is a very tough job in T20 cricket. Run getters are usually in the top three as evident in this tournament as well. So, there could be two potential players, they could either go with Naveed Yasin or with Khushdil Shah.
Given the experience of Naveed Yasin and his ability to rotate the strike, I’d go with him. Lahore have quite a few six hitters. They could do with an accumulator like Naveed Yasin. For those unaware of the left handers, he was on brink of an international call up not so long ago. He remains one of the competent middle order batsman. With the 1st pick with Lahore, its really their call.
