Yesterday the day started on a very sad note as news began to flood in about the deaths of not one but two great personalities namely Qazi Wajid, a veteran actor and the leading human right activist Asma Jehangir. The two sudden deaths have have left the nation in a great shock.

Known for her outspoken personality, Asma Jahangir, the well known senior lawyer passed away in Lahore due to a cardiac arrest. Having become the first woman to serve as a President of the Supreme court bar association, it was her zest for justice which made her co-found the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan as well as the Women's Action Forum.

A pro democratic activist, Asma never shied away from standing for what was right which even got her arrested for taking part in the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy targeted against Zia ul Haq's regime as well as taking part in the Lawyer's Movement which also put her under house arrest . But having received many awards in her life including the prestigious Hilal-i-Imtiaz as well as a Sitar-I-Imtiaz, Asma was an impressive personality no doubt.

And as the day progressed many celebrities took to their social media accounts to express their grief at the passing away of such a distinguished lady whose fame was not just limited to Pakistan as can be seen below.

Besides an international out pour, even our local celebrities took the time out to remember the icon.

Rest in peace Dear Friend. ..I shall miss you and your fierce fearlessness. 😢
