Saba Qamar, is an actress par excellence; her's is a name that requires no introduction. After having proven herself as a versatile and very talented actress here in Pakistan, Saba Qamar went on to conquer Bollywood with her amazing portrayal of a shrewish wife, Meeta in Hindi Medium opposite Irrfan Khan. Recently, Qamar set the screens on fire with her drama serial Baaghi where she played "Kanwal Baloch" a character inspired from the real life internet sensation Qandeel Baloch, who lost her life to honor killing.
Saba Qamar shook the foundations of the industry and those of Pakistan's stereotypical society with her portrayal of Qandeel. The Maat actress looked the world in the eye as Qandeel and brought her real story to the front, allowing the audience to sympathize with the human being Qandeel Baloch was.
After Baaghi it was rumored Saba Qamar would return to the small screen with a very powerful role in Moomal Entertainment's Badshah Begum. However, according to news, Qamar has turned down the role.
Stating how she felt no spark in the character proposed to her, Saba Qamar has refused to do the much hyped drama serial. "I feel masses should be able to relate to the characters we play on screen. There should be substance and strong content. It’s better to do nothing than do something for the sake of it. Don’t be busy, be productive," said Saba while talking to a leading daily.
On the work front, along with various endorsements, Saba Qamar is currently working on her upcoming Eid telefilm opposite Farhan Saeed, titled Iss Dil Ki Aisi Ki Taisi. The telefilm is being directed by Aehsun Talish who bagged the recent Hum Award for his direction in Alif Allah aur Insan.
