Match referee David Boon imposed the suspension after on field umpires Bruce Oxenford and Joel Wilson laid the charge. This is du Plessis’s 2nd minor offense in 12 month period, after having found guilty in Centurion Test against India in January 2018. South African were found to be one over short after time allowances were considered. Hashim Amla, Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar has captaincy experience so it remains to be seen who will captain the side.
