After a not so successful season of Coke Studio, season 5 of Nescafe Basement felt like a breath of fresh air. The mixture of traditional and contemporary tunes, the melodious voices of incredibly talented musicians and singers was exactly what the music lovers wanted. This year, the producer, Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan ‘Xulfi’ introduced many new singers and musicians. He also experimented by introducing the youngest band of Pakistan which consists of all kids under the age of 14. People showered them with praises and appreciations. Another great discovery of this season is Hadia Hashmi who has also been compared with the legendary, Abida Parveen.

The mixture of modern and traditional instruments has given a new meaning to Piya Re.
