After many celebrities have used their social media accounts to give their two cents on the Pakistan-India situation, Wasim Akram, one of our favorite cricketers, has also jumped the bandwagon.

The former captain of the Pakistani cricket team took to Twitter on the day two Indian Air Force jets were shot down by the Pakistan Air Force, and expressed his feelings about the recent events which had led to an increase in the tensions between the two neighboring countries. Wasim Akram used the hashtag #NoToWar and called for India and Pakistan to unite, “How much more blood needs to be spilled before we realise we are both fighting the same battle”.

“With my heavy heart I appeal to yours, India, Pakistan is not your enemy, Your enemy is our enemy!” stated Wasim Akram.

He also called the people of the two countries “brothers” and mentioned that they must come together to fight the war on terror, which is the real problem that both countries suffer from.

Pakistan and India’s relationship has always been shaky, and cricket matches between the two countries just add to it. Which is why this tweet is so important, Wasim Akram is putting all differences aside and asking the two countries to unite for their common goal- peace

It is refreshing to see our actors and sports celebrities spreading love and light in response to the recent events instead of spewing more hate.

In Wasim Akram’s words, “Together we win.”
