Every year civil awards are given to those few chosen Pakistani’s who have contributed immensely and stood out in their particular fields. This year, this ceremony will take place on the 23rd of March, honoring these individuals on Pakistan Day! Our honorable President, Dr. Arif Alvi, will be presenting these awards.
Amongst those chosen, are our very own cricket living legends, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Having served Pakistan in the field of sports for a long time, they are now going to be honored with Hilal-e-Imtiaz on 23rd March.
Yasir Shah, another name in cricket, will be awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
For Sitara-e-Imtiaz, Muhammad Ahmed Shah, the first elected president of the Arts Council, is on top of the list! Also on the list are Sajjad Ali, Attahullah Khan Essakhelvi, for them serving by singing us the most melodious and memorable songs. Singer Munir Hasan (late), known best for his playback singing, will also be awarded. Pushto singer, Sardar Ali Takkar, will be awarded a Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
Amongst the acting fraternity, our versatile actresses Reema Khan, Babra Shareef and actors Shabbir Jan, Iftikhar Ahmed Thakkar will also be awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, while the relatively new, but no less talented, Mehwish Hayat, will be awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz.
Miniature art expert, Bashir Ahmed, will be receiving an award for his mind-blowing paintings and serving the field by imparting his knowledge too. Mr. Nasir Adeeb (the original creator of the character “Maula” of “Maula Jutt” fame) made the list too, for Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
Ishrat Fatima, a name that everyone remembers as the PTV newscaster, will be honored for her services in journalism.
Under the category of Public Service, Nilofer Saeed’s name stands out. She has been part of TCF (The Citizen’s Foundation) for the past 24 years.
