Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is very active these days, especially in the period of Imran Khan’s government as the Prime Minister has given strict instructions against anyone who doesn’t pay tax.

Recently, FBR issued show cause notice to the famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Rahat is the nephew of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan and the grandson of Qawwali singer Fateh Ali Khan. FBR says that Rahat’s income tax audit for the year 2016 is being carried out and we have given to Rahat to submit his tax details. Moreover, if the singer failed to submit the tax details, strict legal action can be taken against him.

Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was supposed to pay the advance tax of a third quarter of the financial year 2018-2019 but he didn’t pay it until now. Even in 2017, FBR blocked all his account and recovered PKR 10,5000 from him.

2 months back, Rahat has issued a show-cause notice by India’s Enforcement Directorate for Alleged Foreign Exchange Violation. He was carrying foreign currency beyond the allowed amount. This is not a good thing and all the artists including Rahat should make sure that they follow the rules and pay the due tax on the given time.
