When Karan Johar announced his upcoming film, Kalank, people were mostly hyped because of its multi-star cast. However, as more details were revealed, we found out that the film has many aspects related to Pakistan. Earlier, Alia Bhatt revealed that she took inspiration from Sanam Saeed’s character in Zindagi Gulzar Hai to prepare for her role in the film. It came as a pleasant surprise for Pakistani people and proved that art has no borders. Recently, Sanjay Dutt disclosed his character’s association with Pakistan.

Conceptualized by Yash Johar and now produced by his son, Karan Johar, Kalank is based on pre-partition sub-continent. It is rumored to be set in Lahore’s Heera Mandi. The mega-starrer film is considered to be the most anticipated film. Another significant thing about the film is the reunion of Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Sanjay Dutt.

Allegedly, they used to date back in the 90s. While talking about the film, Sanjay Dutt confessed that he was nervous to work with Madhuri after so many years. When asked about his character, he said that Balraj holds a special place in his heart as that was his father, Sunil Dutt’s real name. Just like Balraj, Sanjay Dutt’s father also came from Pakistan and moved to India after partition. According to Sanjay Dutt, he felt an emotional connection with the character and that was the main reason of signing the film.

The character of Balraj is said to be a majestic and larger than life. According to Alia Bhatt, if Kalank was a kingdom, Balraj would be the king. It would be interesting to see how Sanjay Dutt has portrayed this character.
