Pakistan’s South Africa tour went off to a great start after they dominated South Africa in the 1st ODI. Sana Mir played a starring role, picking up top 4 order wickets.
Captain Bismah Maroof won the toss and opted to bowl 1st. South Africa was in trouble early as 17-year pacer Fatima Sana and Sana senior went on their merry way. South Africa was reeling from the beginning and couldn’t knit any partnerships.
Sana Mir was particularly menacing picking up 4 of the top and giving way only 11 runs in 6 overs. Young left-arm spinner Nashra Sandhu and all-rounder Nida Dar picked up a brace each to polish off the South Africans. Fatima Sana picked up a solitary wicket.
Pakistan chasing a meagre total was never in trouble and reached the target with only two wickets down. Former captain Javeria Khan remained not out on 34 along Captain Bismah Maroof, who was at another end on 12. Marizanne Kapp and Shabnim Ismail picked up a wicket each.
2nd ODI will be played in Potchefstroom on 9th May.
