Renowned scriptwriter, voice-over artist, fiction writer and actor Doctor Anwar Sajjad passed on 6th June, Thursday evening, due to a prolonged illness. Dr Anwar or also know as Dr Enver drew his last breath at his residence in Raiwind, Lahore.

Anwar Sajjad has a strong hold on short story writing and fiction writings. The other talents that got him renowned include his voice-overs and acting skills. He was a mentor to several other artists in the Industry. He was starred in numerous PTV productions and was also nominated for an award, regarding his performance in drama serial Saba aur Samandar.

His notable published fiction work includes Chauraha, Janam Roop, Khushion ka Baagh and Neeli Notebook. Other than that, he also wrote a number of plays for Pakistan Television. Some of them include Picnic, Raat ka Pichla Pehar, Koyal and Ye Zameen Meri Hai.

He was a part of Lahore circle of literary figures and had also formerly chaired Pakistan Art Council, Lahore. Before his death, Sajjad was associated with National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) but had to quit his job due to illness.

Anwar Sajjad was an MBBS doctor from King Edward medical college and went abroad to the University of Liverpool, to study tropical medicine and hygiene. It was not his doctoral degree that got him renowned but his contributions to the world of Urdu literature.

Sajjad was laid to rest in Miani Sahib graveyard, Lahore. he is survived by a wife and a daughter.
