Mohsin Hasan Khan has resigned from his position as Chief of Cricket Committee, which was formed last year. The committee was to assist and advice the Cricket board regarding cricketing matters, however very little material work was done at least in the public eye.

Three members of the cricket committee Misbah ul Haq, Wasim Akram and Mohsin Khan himself have been providing expert opinions during World Cup matches. Khan and Akram have particularly severe with their criticism about the player. The 4th member of the committee is Uroorj Mumtaz.

After Mohsin Khan offered his resignation with the following statement.

"I am very thankful to Mr. Ehsan Mani for honouring me with the opportunity to chair the PCB Cricket Committee," Khan said. "My services are always available for Pakistan cricket at a suitable position in view of my past record."

PCB chairman also accepted his resignation and said "It is always difficult to let go someone of Mohsin's stature and calibre, but we respect his decision. I am thankful to Mohsin for his contributions and wish him well in his future endeavours."

MD PCB Wasim Khan has taken the role of head of the committee. It is also being reported that the committee will meet at the end of July to review team performance and provide recommendations to the PCB chairman and Board of Governors.

Barring a miraculous turn of events, Pakistan seemed destined to return home early and not make the semi-final. Coaching staff’s and chief selector’s contracts are up to post World Cup and there is growing pressure on PCB from certain sections of the media to change captain.

The cricket committee which has been pretty much dysfunctional up to now, might end up playing a critical role in those appoints.
