On Eid-ul-Fitr, two multi-starrer Pakistani films were released; Chhalawa and Wrong No 2. While both the films come under romantic comedy genre, the main difference is the cast of both films. Where Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Zara Noor Abbas and Asad Siddiqui dazzled the audience in Chhalawa, Neelam Munir and Sami Khan entertained the film-goers in Wrong No 2 just like its prequel, Wrong No.
As both films hit the cinemas at the same time, the producers were anxious to know the box office numbers. It has been seen in the past as well that the films released on Eid generally do good business. However, the numbers start to decline once the holidays are over.
Initially, both the films managed to get the audience’s attention and made good money on the opening week. In the first week, Wrong No 2 collected around 13.1 crores whereas Chhalawa made almost 12.4 crores. As Chhalawa is based in Punjab, it did the most business in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Islamabad. On the other hand, Wrong No 2 already had a fan-base because of its prequel so it grabbed the attention accordingly.
However, since the Eid is over, there has been seen a huge reduction in numbers for both films. In the second week of its release. Chhalawa and Wrong No 2 collected around 2.35 and 2.85 crores respectively. It is a great downfall from the first week and a disappointment for the producers. Overall business for Chhalawa has been 14.8 crores and Wrong No 2 is in the lead with 15.9 crores. Both the films have failed to cross the 20 crore mark.
