Cinema in Pakistan is offering diversified genre of films with each passing year that will surely take Lollywood to another level of cinematic brilliance. One such film is Delhi Gate that offers a fresh and twisted take on romance and features Shamoon Abbasi as the antagonist. The film is written by veteran writer Kamal Pasha, directed by Nadeem Cheema who happens to be cousins with actor Shafqat Cheema. It is produced by Sky Fall Films Canada. Apart from Shamoon, the cast includes debutante Yasir Khan and Suzanne as the lead pair along with Jawed Sheikh, Qavi Khan, Shafqat Cheema, Rashid Mehmood and Khalid Butt amongst others. Delhi Gate is expected to release in early 2020.
Shamoon is currently in Lahore shooting for the film; he was kind enough to take out time from his busy schedule and gave us a sneak peek about the film.
Speaking about his role and the plot, he said: “The name of my character is Malik Gold; he’s a thinking villain but this time around a romantic love story. My look in the film is very fancy; I have attempted something different from the dark sided antagonist roles I’ve been doing earlier. As an actor, I always seek to portray my roles with a lot of thought process keeping in view the minute details”.
Swiftly moving on: “Many of us aren’t aware of the history of the historic Delhi Gate and the people living around the walled city of Lahore. It will unveil the sheer beauty, native culture and colourful aspects that will surely capture the audience senses”.
About the question that what made him say yes to the film: “Delhi gate isn’t a run of the mill romance that we see quite often. It’s a twisted love story with loads of action and that what makes the film different and unique for the audiences”.
On the work front, Abbasi has quite an interesting lineup of films this year. The talented actor is all set to conquer with films like Durj, Chaudhry, Ishrat, Patakh Dey and The Trail. He also debuts in the digital world with 'The legend of Jawed Iqbal’.
