Keeping all this aside, Ahad just gave us big news as he won Betty Mitchell Award for his performance in Canadian theatre play Hamlet, in the category of outstanding performance by an actor in a drama. The news was announced by Canada-based Vertigo Theatre on their Twitter page.
They wrote, “Congratulations to @ahadrazamir for his Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Drama award! We were thrilled with this production of HAMLET: A GHOST STORY.”
Ahad is really happy for the achievement. He shared this Twitter post on his Instagram story. Moreover, he said, “Hamlet is particularly an exhausting character. Once the show is over, the cast asks me if I want to hang out and I usually just refuse. I am so drained that all I want to do is sleep. I was called back to play a lot of roles I wanted to take on but couldn’t and the calls would keep coming. That means that I still have a home here. People think of me enough to go, ‘Hey, let’s give him a call and see if he wants to play a role. This time, for Hamlet, it worked.” Speaking about her mother, Ahad said, “My mother came to see me perform and she told me that for the first time, she couldn’t recognize me and actually felt scared of me. I just thought that I must be doing something right if my own mother could think that way!”
Ahad attended high school in Canada and studied acting at the University of Calgary. He was a rising star in Calgary theatre circles before he returned to Pakistan so Ahad already has a good reputation in Canada.
Congratulations Ahad, best of luck for your future endeavours!
