With its first episode premiered last week, Mere Mohsin has already given us a lot to sink in. After getting introduced to all the dynamics and stories surrounding the various characters, we get a little forward momentum. Last night’s episode provided the first and a very tiny glimpse of what Mohsin and Soha would be tackling with, throughout the drama.

Played by Syed Jibran, Mohsin’s persona has a lot of different dimensions. He is a family man through and through, but at the same time, he cherishes his personal life too. Being the only man in the family, his responsibilities are tenfold, but he doesn’t seem to mind this. Though, coming from a middle-class family, he knows that his mother won’t easily let him marry who he wants to, which seems to be the biggest problem in his life right now.

We’d be lying if we said Syed Jibran hasn’t played characters like this before, but he has always managed to impress with his subtlety and fine acting. He morphs perfectly in his character with timely dialogue delivery and accurate expressions. His experience and versatility definitely show through his performance.

So far, there hasn’t been much happening in terms of the story as of yet. Both Soha and Mohsin seem to be dealing with family issues on their own, which might be the only similarity between the two. Where Rabab Hashim and Syed Jibran lack in on-screen chemistry (at least till now), they make up for it in their own characters. What seemed like a love story, in the beginning, looks like it might have a lot more to tell than just that.
