As I begin to speak with Mojiz Hasan, the Heer Maan Ja trailer has just released. Mojiz is gushing at the response it has received, “We are getting amazing comments, the reaction has been hugely positive and the trailer is something that has to be seen to be believed!”, he exclaims, the buzz of excitement palpable in his voice. “Heer Maan Ja is going to be the perfect escape from reality for audiences this Eid-ul-Azha.”
The Parchi actor has come a long way from the time he was working on his dissertation on Pakistani cinema at Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, the same time he met fellow actress and one of Heer Maan Ja’s producers Hareem Farooq. “I have my career’s biggest role in Heer Maan Ja, so naturally I have quite a few expectations from the film. We worked really hard – the rehearsals went on for a month and a half, there were plenty of workshops and I learnt quite a few things over the course of shooting this film. It turned out to be a tremendous experience.”
Intrigued, I query Mojiz about the type of character he will be seen performing in the film. “The character I am playing is Kabir’s (essayed by Ali Rehman Khan) right-hand man, his buddy in the film. He is essentially an introvert, but Kabir is his one close friend for whom he will do literally anything. He likes to modify cars and has quite a collection of them and he is into gaming as well,” he explains, adding “You guys will see quite a few madcap things happening with Kabir, myself and the characters they encounter in the film.”
Hailing from a family that has absolutely no ties to showbiz, Mojiz believes that Heer Maan Ja will be his breakthrough role. “All my siblings are professionals, and my family is slowly but surely coming terms to the fact that I am an actor and have chosen this field as a profession. I am here to stay,” he says in a tongue in cheek manner, adding that he would like to encourage all the new actors to keep up working, regardless of the length of their roles, as they will eventually reach a point in their life where “it is happening.”
And it does indeed seem to be happening for Mojiz Hasan, as the talented performer reveals that he has received many calls for potential acting gigs following the teaser and trailer of Heer Maan Ja.
With Heer Maan Ja scheduled for release this Eid-ul-Azha, it seems the audience is going to be in for a treat, as not only will they be in for witnessing Ali Rehman Khan and Hareem Farooq’s comedic escapades unfold on the screen, they will also be watching some fresh performances from promising new talent such as Mojiz Hasan. We have our fingers crossed and look to catch the Heer Maan Ja gang on the big screen!
