Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy Films has recently launched the ninth animated film from the ‘Aagahi’ series that began in 2017. This series educates women about their rights and how to navigate the police and judicial system, in case of violation. It is also one of the public service campaigns that have won worldwide acclaim. It was also nominated for Cannes Lions earlier this year.
The recently released short film is titled ‘Sexual Harassment’ – a common occurrence at the workplace, public places, and homes these days. According to survey results by the National Commission on the Status of Women, almost 50 percent of women working in the public sector have faced sexual harassment.
With Aamina Sheikh on vocals, the latest animation explains “what behaviors constitute sexual harassment, the multiple environments it often takes place in, and the laws that exist in order to protect victims and prosecute wrongdoers for this offending behavior,” according to the official press statement.
Aagahi is a series based on 14 short animated films that cover sensitive topics like acid attacks, domestic violence, and sexual harassment. These films educate women about existing laws and legislations that provides safety to the victims while explaining the penalties applicable to the perpetrators. It provides an overview of legal provisions that ought to be implemented in a given situation. So, ladies, you must watch this short film, because well, safety first!
