Kinnaird is an all-women College, which explains the backlash. The College was to host an interactive session with the playwright Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, also popularly known for his ‘anti-feminist’ opinions.

The students, including alumni, protested against this session, claiming that his misogynist comments and derogatory remarks about women are simply too much to handle.

In a recent interview, KRQ said things that most women would find difficult to agree with. The College has an agenda that it’s been pursuing for a long time now that encourages and promotes women empowerment. His views would contradict what the university stands by.

The College’s Centre for Learning and Cultural Development had scheduled the event for Wednesday, January 22, 2020, but called it off as soon as the backlash was received. Director Agha Jarar was one of the guests that were invited to the session.

KRQ has written many famous TV plays, including Sadqay Tumharay, Payaray Afzal, Main Mar Gayee Shaukat Ali, Landa Bazaar, Boota from Toba Tek Singh and the nation’s favorite Mere Pas Tum Ho.
