Pakistani Oscar winning iron lady, Sharmeen Obaid makes the headlines again all over the world. After months of hearing whispers it seems the cat is finally out of the bag! Sources quote Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy to having been roped in for the direction of a new Star Wars film for Lucasfilm, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios.

American screenwriter and producer Damon Lindelof has previously written the screenplay for The Wacthmen, Tomorrowland and Star Trek. Sources close to the movie producer say that Lindelof will be co-writing the film, however the focus of the film is still under wraps. The filmmakers decided to take the director on board in the early stages of the movie as to get their perspective on the way the story unfolds.

Pakistan's Emmy Winning Director

Obaid will be helming the production once the film hits the floors. After sitting on the directors seat for Marvel's Ms. Marvel, Sharmeen has definitely raised the bar with each project that she takes on. The filmmaker is an Oscar and Emmy-winning director who is known for Oscar winning documentaries such as Saving Face, A Girl in the River and The Price of Forgiveness. Chinoy is currently working as a director alongside producer Will Smith for Paramount’s adaptation of the novel Brilliance. Her work speaks volumes and has helped put Pakistan on the global map in terms of creative brilliance.
