U-16 series: Pakistan beats Australia to the lead in 5 match series

Pakistan U-16 team took a 1-0 lead in the 5 match series being held in UAE with a commanding 5 wicket win. Ahmed Khan & Faisal Akram starred with the ball for team Pakistan picking up three wickets each to restrict Australian to a modest total.

Pakistan captain Umer Eman won the toss and elected to bowl 1st. Ahmed Khan proved his captain right picking up the openers early. A small partnership was followed by a middle order collapse with Australia tottering at 94 for 6. But a rigid partnership between N McFadyen (44) and captain J Murphy took Australia past 150. They were bowled out for 170 with inside 45 overs. N Radhakrishnan top scored with 48. Ahmed Khan & Faisal Akram picked up three wickets each, while captain Umer Eman picked up a brace.

In reply, all Pakistan batmen chipped in and reached the target in the 39th over with 5 wickets to spare. Opener Haseebullah Khan topped scored with 33. While, Aseer Mughal and wicket keeper Zubair Shinwari took the side home with a unbeaten 33 run partnership. After top scoring with the bat, N Radhakrishnan picked up 2 wickets as well.

The 2nd match of the series will take place on the 11th of January.
