The Afghan assailant Rashid Khan became the youngest captain to win a Test surpassing Waqar Younis, as he led the minnows to defeat Bangladesh in the Single Test in Chittagong on Monday.

While Rashid Khan made debut as the Test captain, Afghanistan impressed in the only Test against the hosts Bangladesh and clinched their second Test victory. During this Test match, Rashid Khan made some top records as a captain after providing his top all-round performances.

He is not even 21 years old and debuted as captain of the event, made Afghanistan a memorable victory, for 224-runs, and also won the Man of the Match award, for his 11 wickets in the match and half a century in the first innings.

By winning his first race as captain at the age of 20 years and 354 days, he broke the record for Waqar Younis of Pakistan, who led Pakistan to a 131-runs victory against Zimbabwe in Karachi in 1993-94 at the age of 22 years and 15 days in his debut as captain.

While receiving the Man-of-the-Match award he said: “Thanks to the almighty Allah for this performance, under my captaincy we won this game against a big side like Bangladesh. We are new in this format, so the credit goes to the coaching staff [and] the players the way they prepared for this game".
