In its second week of running, Laapata continues to grow strong with a plot pacing fast and keeping us engaged with a speedy turn of events.

Directed and written by Khizer Idrees, the drama stars Ayeza Khan, Ali Rehman Khan, Sarah Khan, and Gohar Rasheed.

Let’s take a quick review of the two episodes of Laapata this week and what went down in the lives of Shams, Falak, and Geeti.

Falak’s Gambling Spree Goes Wrong

In the ever-peaceful household of Falak and Shams, a tussle has risen between the two households now that, Falak’s parents have turned down Sham's marriage proposal for her. Bitterness is in the air and prompts Shams and Falak to lose their minds. The only character who is enjoying the dent in their romantic tale is Geeti, who leaves no stone unturned to woo Shams into her life.

An agitated Falak is told by his instructor to focus on her talent- that is being a great badminton player. He advises her to aim big and achieve what she has in front of her right now, else she will regret it later in life.

Meanwhile, just to ensure his way towards easy money, Shams gets into a massive gambling bet. Unfortunately, he loses and gets into debt worth 20 Lakh Rupees. Our hero is now anxious. He has no way to go. Already, his father has no money and he can’t go to his uncle- Falak’s father for monetary help.

Time is ticking and he has just 24 hours to return the money. In all this time, he decides that he is going to sort his life for good. He apologizes to Falak for being distant and flirting with Geeti, telling her he wants to marry her right away. Together, they stand up to their parents and tell them that they have decided to get engaged immediately.

Fortunately, after much reluctance, both families agree and hug out the differences to enjoy the moment. But Geeti is on fire. She cannot believe that she failed to get her hero and starts planning ways to get Shams by hook or by crook.

In light of the recent turn of events, Shams gears up to get a job. He has told Hakeem and his friend, Logic that he isn’t going to run from the Inspector- who he needs to return the money. However, by the end of the episode, we see that Shams hasn’t returned from his job interview while Falak comes home to a celebration of topping in her exam again.

The promo shows that a missing Shams creates tension in the household while news arrives that his dead body has been found by the police.

Spectacular Performances Combined with a Power-packed plot

The best thing about Laapata is that it doesn’t let you get bored. You won’t change the channel nor you will forward stream the episode to get to the end. It compels you to watch every moment. From Ayeza Khan’s celebrity looks and Tiktoks, Sarah Khan’s fiery badminton game to Ali Rehman’s gambling bit; the scenes are enticing and high in entertainment quotient.

However, Laapata seems to be a rom-com we have seen already on screens. With yet again a love triangle and a cousin-marriage-centric story, the drama has used an old formula but with a touch of extra entertainment to make it seize the spotlight.

The star-power too is working out for the drama. Especially, the scenes ft. Ayeza Khan are extremely fun to watch. Will the drama continue to maintain its stronghold? Let’s wait and watch.
