In the second week of its opening, Ek Jhoota Lafz Mohabbat on Express Entertainment speeds up with more interesting developments in the story.

The drama is penned by Mamoona Aziz while Syed Zeeshan Ali Zaidi has taken the director’s seat for the story. It is produced by Fahad Mustafa and Dr. Ali Kazmi under Big Bang Entertainment.

We are loving the unique assembly of the cast, their performances apt in their respective characters. But it is the breakout star, Ayeza Awan that stole the spotlight in this episode. Let’s do a quick review of the second episode of Ek Jhoota Lafz Mohabbat and the scenes that genuinely moved us to tears.

A case of a runaway bride

We saw in the pilot episode how Arisha (Ayeza Awan) refuses to marry Maaz (Junaid Khan). She cooks up a story to convince her cousin that since he isn’t stable yet and has just gotten a job, it's better that they buy some time for him to accumulate more wealth.

Her plan backfires. Nobody gives importance to her reason, so much so, her father (Sajid Hassan) raises his hand on her when she crosses the line and misbehaves with him. Poor Maaz is heartbroken at Arisha’s refusal to marry and is also upset that his mother (Shagufta Aijaz) is equally angry at her demand.

Fortunately, after her father’s angry outburst, Arisha reluctantly agrees to marry Maaz. But she puts on the worst attitude in the house to portray her disapproval. She throws a fit at being given Alizeh’s (Amna Ilyas) dowry clothes and expresses her displeasure at any new wedding clothes being brought for her.

On the other hand, Maaz ensures he leaves no stone unturned to buy the most expensive gifts for her and sets up his room with beautiful furniture to welcome her.

Everyone’s effort to please Arisha goes in vain because she runs off on her wedding day. She leaves a voice note to her father that he left her no choice and she wouldn’t have departed if he would have postponed the wedding.

Her father is shattered and is hopeless. The twist comes when her sister i.e. Maaz’s mother tries to save the day by proposing a wedding union between Maaz and Alizeh. Both our hero and heroine are shocked beyond the core at this idea. But it is clear that the gravity of the situation has left them no choice!

Sajid Hasan’s breakdown was a tear-jerker

The episode was more focused on Ayeza Awan and her character, Arisha. Her portrayal of the rebellious daughter was fiery and hard-hitting. She conveyed all the annoyance just with her eyes and all the bitterness with her facial expressions.

Junaid Khan did a brilliant job portraying the helpless lover, Maaz. The forlorn look on his face when Arisha refuses to marry him was heart-rendering. His happiness at the wedding stage was equally moving and we haven’t seen a groom so jubilant in recent dramas.

The most heart-touching scene was of Sajid Hasan’s meltdown as he couldn’t stop his tears when his daughter ran away from home on her wedding day. He looked the most broken and helpless father, portraying his anguish so well that it all looked natural.

We are looking forward to seeing Amna Ilyas take charge in the upcoming episode, now that the story will mainly center around her and Junaid Khan.

Ek Jhoota Lafz Mohabbat will surely continue to be on our watch list! The promo for next week looks explosive. Fingers crossed to what is next in store for us.
