With its fourteenth episode, Dobara took a powerful turn- the one we were waiting for since the beginning of the story.

Mehru’s marriage with Mahir is just the start of the many stereotypes the drama tends to break! The last episode was all about Dobara shattering baseless taboos and questioning the hypocritical practices in our society.

What’s more, Hadiqa Kiani and Bilal Abbas are proving to be a dazzling pair on-screen. Let’s do a quick review of what happened in Dobara this Wednesday and how the new twist has made the tale a must-watch.

A new chapter begins in Mehru and Mahir’s life

Mehru (Hadiqa Kiani) and Mahir (Bilal Abbas) have taken the bold choice of tying the knot but their decision turns out to be earth-shattering for many. As predicted, Phuppo (Sakina Samo) is outraged that how Ibtisam (Javed Sheikh) turned his back on her and spoiled her plan. Minal (Maheen Siddiqui) is equally shocked and is unable to digest her mother’s sudden change of plans.

After all, she was marrying Ibtisam- an idea that too was not welcomed by her children. Zameer (Nabeel Zafar) has an extremely hostile reaction to the whole situation and takes all his frustration out on Minal. Meanwhile, Mahir becomes Mehru’s strength and tries to steer her towards positivity. We see Mahir more confident now that he has Mehru by his side. He buys her glass bangles on their wedding day, causing Mehru to go into a painful throwback where Hidayatullah (Nauman Aijaz) admonished her for wearing them.

Gradually, she is falling in love with Mahir and perhaps she isn’t even realizing it. The next morning during breakfast, Mahir and Phuppo have a heated argument. Quite convincingly, Mahir tries to prove to her that he has done nothing wrong by marrying Mehru. He shows her a brutal reality that her brother too married Mehru when she was a sixteen-year-old teenager and the deceased was twenty years elder than her. The fact silences an irate phuppo and she commands Ibtisam to immediately book her flight to Canada.

On the other hand, Mehru visits Minal on Mahir’s persuasion. However, her daughter forces them to leave the house and accuses Mahir of planning this scheme of trapping her mother.

While this ended up disturbing Mehru, this Is just the tip of troublesome events for our daring heroine. During a romantic dinner with Mahir, a friend spots the duo and is shocked by the news of her getting married to a young boy.

Mehru is worried that this update in her life will travel like wildfire and will cause people to gossip. But Mahir makes her feel secure and tells her that she should be fearless. Their bond continues to grow but phuppo, witnessing their blossoming love, is determined to ruin this happiness. She is waiting for Affan (Usman Khan) to return from his honeymoon so that he can act against his mother.

On the other hand, Jehangir (Shabbir Jan) gets sick and his wife finds out that he needs surgery to recover. The promo of the next episode unveils Mahir getting at the top of his game and realizing how much Zameer has caused loss to Mehru's firm. Meanwhile, Mehru appears ready to be swayed away in love- even if it causes her the loss of her wealth and family.

Hadiqa Kiyani and Bilal Abbas are the perfect lovebirds

Despite the disparity in their age, Hadiqa and Bilal Abbas have aced their romantic equation as husband and wife. Their chemistry is fun to watch and we love how they are growing in their characters- first as friends and now as partners.

There is a new shade in Bilal Abbas’s character – one that is more self-assured and poised. He is determined to rise as a respected family figure. His next mission seems to quash Zameer and show his true face to the world. But what is really going on in Mahir’s mind? Is he falling in love with Mehru? Or he just wants to avenge his former girlfriend by getting a higher social status? Let’s see how this character unfolds.

Sakina Samo as phuppo is standing true to all the viral desi phuppo memes. She is annoying, evil, and boasts a conventional mindset she is not willing to outgrow. Meanwhile, Javed Sheikh is an entertaining watch as Ibtisam. We love how genuine and honest this character is. Instead of falling into his sister-in-law's schemes, he ensured he takes the right decision and does good in life.

All in all, the episode was packed with empowering messages like discouraging child marriages and promoting marriages of widows as per their will and happiness. Let’s see what is next to come in Dobara, for we have become regular viewers of this inspirational story.
