In response to the threats received, director and actor Sarmad Khoosat has expressed his disappointment and concerns in a series of letters to the Government and all of Pakistan.

Soon after his letters surfaced all over social media, celebrities came out to support Sarmad. Dearest friend and the ever so beautiful Mahira Khan spoke in solidarity with the filmmaker.

In response to his tweet that read "Getting dozens of threatening phone calls and messages. Should I withdraw Zindagi Tamasha?" Mahira replied:

Time and again we are made to realize our power and our influence. A film ( that people haven’t seen) can make some this scared. Mushkil ko bata ke tera Allah kitna bara hai

Humayun Saeed also felt the need to respond to Khoosat’s latest tweet and he emphasized that the Government needs to take this issue up on priority and ensure safety for the filmmaker and dear friend, Sarmad. He wrote:

The government must address this at the earliest. Filmmaking in Pakistan is already a tough challenge; those who dare to venture into it need to be encouraged and appreciated.

Author Muhammad Hanif didn’t shy away from speaking his heart out in response to Sarmad’s open letter to PM Imran Khan:

ZindagiTamasha has been cleared by the censors TWICE. Someone is still trying to mess with the release. Please read and share this heartfelt plea.

Zindagi Tamasha is a bilingual film directed and co-produced by Sarmad Khoosat and written by Nirmal Bano (an NCA graduate). If features Eman Suleman, Samiya Mumtaz, Arif Hasan, and Ali Qureshi in pivotal roles.
