Pakistan's Oscar Committee for 2020 Has Some Familiar Faces

Mehwish Hayat, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Asad ul Haq will be part of the Oscar Committee for Pakistan.

The Oscar Committee consists of a consensus group of renowned figures who will come together to decide Pakistan's official submission after seeing nominations for the prestigious international award. Previously, Sharmeen Obaid has won an Academy Award for her documentary film, A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness, and will be part of the decision making body on behalf of Pakistan.

I look forward to seeing the nominated films and choosing the one we put forward. Mehwish took to Instagram to announce the wonderful news and express how humbled she was to be a part of such a crucial team which would get to put Pakistan on a highly acclaimed international platform, as the Academy Awards are the highest achievements in film in production which will highlight the talent in the country.

Esteemed fashion designer and dynamic host, Hassan Sheheryar Yasin, known as HSY in the industry, took to his social media to share the news of being part of the Oscar Selection Committee himself, disclosing how proud he was that he would be able to help put Pakistan in the spotlight and showcase the immense talent here. The designer shared that 'the committee will be chaired by two-time Academy Award and Emmy winning documentary filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and includes Film Director Asad-ul-Haq, Actor Mehwish Hayat and Musician Faisal Kapadia.'
