The biggest event of the year, the coveted Lux Style Awards (LSA) this year like every year since its inception have become the talk of the town. From the performances to the dazzling looks, netizens are abuzz with it all!

This year the awards show began with native folk singer Abdul Wahab Bugti and the ever-green Shehzad Roy’s performance on a rendition of the National Anthem. This sparked a debate over social media which began after seasoned actor, Adnan Siddiqui took to social media sharing his opinion on the rendition which he believed was ‘disrespectful’ to an extent.

To counter this opinion, actress Sajal Aly responded to his post by terming the rendition as ‘healing’, she further added that she found nothing wring with the beautiful rendition. It seems like the interaction has now turned into a debate with netizens taking sides and other celebrities joining in too.

Siddiqui in his post talked about the rendition and questioned whether it was right for the artists who fiddled with the National Symbol to be getting away with it, taking a dig at the Lux Style Awards where the performance took place. He asked his fans for their thoughts on the matter too. He further probed the question by asking if the constitution permits anyone to improvise/remix the national anthem under the disguise of creativity?

“Is it appropriate to take creative liberties with our National Anthem, which was composed to instil in us patriotism and remind us of our nation’s glory? Does our Constitution permit anyone to improvise/remix the Tarana in the guise of creativity? It’s always played in the original rendition at matches, tournaments, other state functions. At a famous award show, artists however, fiddle with the National symbol and possibly get away with it too. Personally, I find ‘remix’ of the Tarana disrespectful. Thoughts?”

Sajal Aly took to social media and shared her thoughts on the matter, uploading a short clip of the performance, here’s what she said:

“As a Pakistani and an artist, I found the diversity of my country reflected in this rendition of the national anthem beautiful. I found it healing. Shehzad Roy and Wahab Bugti broke no law. They breached no protocol. Their rendition reflected the values of our Constitution and remained true to the original anthem.

You asked for thoughts. These are mine. Feel free to disagree :)”

Siddiqui clapped back to Sajal Aly's reply and here's what he said,

With Siddiqui and Sajal locking horns, other celebrities were quick to share their opinions on the matter too.

Actor Aijaz Aslam took to twitter to support Adnan in his stance. He believed one cannot fix something that is already perfect!

Sajal Aly also received responses on her post and RJ, Anoushey Ashraf, Tich Button actor, Farhan Saeed and actress Mira Sethi seemed to agree with her stance.

However, many disagreed with her post on her social media handle.

The debate between the Yeh Dil Mera co-stars seems to have taken a cease fire for now. What are your thoughts on the matter? Whose stance did you agree with on the rendition of the National Anthem.
